Hello, people from ALFA.

Post by Ice »

Hello, people.

I got accepted on wednesday, but since I use dial-up conection, I couldn't enter before. Generally I play only on weekends.

I'm glad I was accepted. The character I described on biography in the application was in my mind for some months already, but I never knew of a way to tell about her in 2048 characteres. It seems I finally was able to do it, and I'm very satisfied.

I still will have to download the haks, and since I don't enter on Internet everyday and will have to travel next week, I will not be still able to play on ALFA for the next 2 weeks (maybe I'm wrong...). However I'm very anxious to start.

I hope it will be a good experience... and, of course, I need to decide yet what is the most suitable place to start, according to the biography... then I can start.

Thank you.

We do have friendly members who can burn the haks on a CD for you and send them snail-mail. If you let us know where in the world you are, it would be easier to determine who are closer.

Welcome and have fun!

Consider the starting server suggestion (Shadowdale) if you think gaming times are an okay fit (there's a census thread with timezones) and that the milieu is acceptable for your PC. The main plus I'd suggest is that you will find plenty of other players with new / nearly new PCs, who probably also look to safety in numbers... Overall though, obviously your prerogative where to go. Starting server changes up every month or two, even longer term members are sometimes glad to start off their new PC concepts in an environment where lots of other folks are getting started too.

Consider also flipping any bio to the DM team of wherever you start off, gives them something to work with to have some fun when coming across your PC IG. Lots of folks don't necessarily bother with a very detailed bio til they've enhanced their survivability with a level or two... since you might blow a novel's worth of effort on a good concept, though dying to a kobold's dart in the first half-hour of play.

Cheers and enjoy!

To Baalster: Don't worry, I can download the files myself, even in dial-up. Also, I don't want to bother a player with this. Thanks, anyway. If I think it is really necessary, I will accept the CD, but for now the download is going well... Hmm.. something like 550 MB, if I'm not mistaken, and I have downloaded 135 MB at this moment (started 13 hours ago).

To Brokenbone: I have to read something about Shadowdale, but I believe the best place for my PC to start will be Silverymoon - Silver Marches. There, I will have the university, what makes the things even better, suitable to my character class, wizard (what increases the chances of death, then I will thank Vendrin :P ). I know the things could be easier if I started at the recommended server, but I don't think it is adequate, considering the biography.

To all: Thank you, once more.
