Well considering I'm not a big fan of perma death.. my opinion's biest. But that's never stopped me before.

God I love Mik, always quoting her. Anyways she said "My opinion of Perma Death is no respawn NPC in the morgue/heaven" Which I fully agree.

If a player dies with a group of people.. and they have enough cash to hord together to get someone a raise.. more power to them. If the guys alone... well he's sort of screwed unless someone comes along (unless if its meta'ed).

Lission, if they have the cash they should be able to get the raise. Current money flux problems aside, this is a game, D&D game to be exact, where raises happen. Love it how were rule freaks untill someone dies.

Take my three PC's for instance. Human died, alone with a friend.. and left to rot. Dwarf came out, died alone, left to rot. 2nd dwarf came out, got involved with Esio's quest. Now fighting Durgar is no picnick. Think I went down twice during that. Both times I mannaged to get raised.

Though when I was ambushed and killed by another player.. I did not get raised (basic problem with non perma death servers. You off someone.. well they respawn and come looking for you).

So if you want to force manditory 'off the PC week' have at it. DM's would love to kill a PC off a week for a DM quest. But if I got a Paladin off ridding the world of undead.. and I surcom to it. If anyone's around I would hope my goody goody PC has enough friends to cough up some cash so I can live once more.

I got the feeling form the alfa players manual that raises would be rare if not nonexistant I would like to see it more like that. Limit of one raise per char.

I went for one. Limited number of rez.

But more for the undroppable items which stores info rather than a cap of say 1 or 3 rezzes per character.

This way a DM can sorta have some control if they see the character die and then note they're up to their 8th Rez they can 'encourage' the player to let it lie.

Or they can set the character some task, or discuss with the player some way to RP the rez so if they do come back it's not just a 15 minute stop at the docs, but a serious event as it should be. As characters all react differently i think the flat 1 const drop is a bit limiting. Sometimes it may be an ability drop, sometimes it may be an alignment change, sometimes it could be a skill drop/increase, sometimes it could just be RP....but something to show the impact would be good. AGain, something the player and DM should agree together.

I would like scripted rezzes to only be performed on people who worship the deity of the relevent church. Otherwise a DM would be required to see why a Tormish priest should use one of their rare blessed diamonds to raise a servant of Moradin......but this is probably more trouble than it's worth.

I don't want any no-drop items in my inventory indicating how many 'extra lives' I still have
available. The super-mario feeling would just kill it for me.

Come on people, we need a clear majority to keep Nalo quiet, right now we are barely hovering over 50%.

Bleh. Keep it IC. Don't forget that raise dead won't work if the head is missing/blown off. Sure rez and true rez will work, but they cost more and require a higher level priest.

How can people be getting so many rezes loosing one level each time, and possibly loosing all of their gear? That seems like a huge penalty to me.

If we remove scripted rezzes then we need to remove 7 in game day rotting thing because not everyone can arrange with a dm by then.

Limited rezzes.

Also, number four makes no sense, in that higer level characters, for the most part, stay dead. Right off the top of my head level ten and overs who stayed dead are Croaker, Reyza, Mashan, Arakiel, Toshi, Glorfindel, and Illyana. I am sure there are more.

Rezzes seem to happen about level 5.

Well i was level 8....almost 9 with lino and could have had a tech raise...but he stayed dead. Lino had been raised twice and had a half a dozen tech raises. Akadean had never been raised period. Turned down a raise for my next pc bora and he was only 3rd lvl(dm's tried hard to raise this pc).
It all depends on the pc and how i rp him wiether they will get any raises at all. And know one knows better than me how my pc's should be rped when they are raised...or how many times they are raised.

....okay...there should be no "rezomatic". Now what exactly that is depends on whom you ask and at times even what side of the Rez they are standing on.

Basically the system we have in place works quite well as long as certain things are considered.

1.) There are no tech-rezzes (exceptions in 'Dire' circumstances handled on a case by case basis by the HDM or an ADM who has access to the module's logs. As an example, here is Daggerdale's policy (though modified to be the HDM or ADM with log access):
McJoker wrote:I will be the only DM performing resurrections due to technical reasons such as lag and disconnects.

You’ll need to PM me with the following information:

1) GameSpy Account Name
2) PC’s Name
3) Place of Death
4) Time of Death
5) Witnesses PC’s Name
6) Brief description of incident.

I will review the situation and contact you with my decision.
2.) Though it is not always avoidable...and yes I do understand this as a player as well as DM...if you are experiencing lag and you go to visit that group of goblins that keeps irritating you with their presence...it's not tech, it's your own reckless fault (especially if you are a long-time player here)

3.) Resurections are a possibility in the land of Faeraun...especially for those who have the 'riches' or the 'wealthy' friends...and I know some of these friends are not as wealthy as they might appear at that time (yes, I also realize that some are a bit too wealthy, but that is a different issue...so leave it out of here). i.e. If I am friends with a Bill Gates of Faeraun and it is in his best interest to ensure I remain alive (so that I can continue manipulating the Shadow Weave in his favor) then it is reasonable and IC for me to be given the chance to be rezzed.

4.) To those players who's character is about to be rezzed...is it IC for your character's race or beliefs? Disregard how much it irks you OOC...is it really, truly IC for your character? Once again an example:
There was a character named Varc'urn who died 3 times (correct me if I'm wrong, Miz). His first death was caused by trying to save someone he fell in love with and was connected with his embracing Mielikki as well. All of this was RP'd and let me tell you, Mielikki (played by Thingray) was very reluctant and made sure he was earnest (was actually quite intense for a while). His second death I can't really recall...might have even had a tech death. Varc'urn's last death was at the hands of someone who was later banned for PKing new players (set up traps on narrow areas where new characters would have to walk along in order to kill them and then looted the corpses...No, the "But I'm evil!" plea does not work, however I digress). His particular death was actually RP'd quite well and he even almost took down the other character instead.

Was it IC for Varc'urn to return to life (even if certain individuals would have found his body and payed for the rez) at the time? No, he was fleeing for his life and realized that his presence in Daggerdale would endanger a certain developing druid circle (not to mention the elven maid he loved). OOC, he would have loved to remain alive (a half-drow who's mother was/is a priestess of Lolth; therefore he was a stain as a half-breed as well as a heretic, yet still managed to survive his encounter with 'mother') as he was involved in many different interesting plots and there was even a player-plot to have him wedded to his love (supported by her adopted father) and so much more. But it was not IC, so he died and remained dead.
Now, of course none of that is law...but I find it a fairly reasonable way to deal with rezzes...and realistic. They 'are' possible after all...it really is a matter of who/what your character is and also of keeping things IC no matter how difficult the decision might be (especially considering the results).
