Grommits Ditties

Post by zetamog »

There was a man called Lief the Great, and up the mountains did he scoot,
for a giant's head to take,
to make his reputation moot.
When ere he came to the dell,
within which the lummox dwelled,
lief brooked no subtle catlike step,
he roared like thunder and giant beset.
Lief was known for martial triumphs,
and many a drinker he'd out-quaffed too,
yet for all he'd taken his share of thumps,
this giant looked set to cut him through.
Such as Lief brave doom by habit,
and so he proved with every swing,
the monster's head fell to the dirt,
as Lief put paid to the mountain king!

"This land bestrode by giants be
There's one who's measure is years
With heart so bold
The fates could hold
No horror that she would fear

Found in misted dale or grotto
Glenia, though set of jaw,
And steely eyed, would warrant no quarrel;
But 'midst the torrid flow of battle,
A whirl of blade and bow leaps to,
A cavalcade of derring do

So find bandits lurking roadside,
Reptiloids that skulk through forest,
And - no lie - a firbolg giant,
Whos steps did tremble the mountainside

Like bolts of lightning through the air
Shot Glenia's wicked arrows true
The giant stumbled from its rampage
Our Lady elfs luck had broken through

To its knees the firbolg fell
Though wounded still it fought like hellfire
An avalanche of thumping limbs
But the champion did surprise him
With stunning leaps and deft deflection
Till through the heart he was struck down

Remember then this tale of valour!
Of elfkind wisdom, skill, undaunting,
O'er the isles hope ranges, fighting,
Striving, for the ffolk, pursuing justice!"
