Jungle transplant

Post by Rumple C »

Chult: Chult has always been remote and isolated, forming a mountainous jungle of savage beasts, hulking dinosaurs, and disease-ridden swamps. Human tribes, goblins, and even stranger monstrous folk haunted the thick jungles. The primordial Ubtao was almost exclusively revered in the land, for the divine powers of Faerûn awarded Ubtao the dominion over the land of Chult in exchange for the deity's vigilance over the threat from under the Peaks of Flame.

It was also a temporary home to one very miserable, very lost gnome.

Emmet once had a very intense and lengthy discussion with Hog, of the flaming fist on the merits of an all meat diet. Hog (who spent his free time lifting logs and heavy metal ingots and grunting while doing so) was rather muscular. Emmet was not muscular but was a vigorous proponent for including a turnip with every meal, such is the ancestral wisdom of gnomes. Hog would listen somewhat during a push/pull arm superset, but completely lost his patience on the following "leg day" which made him extremely irritable for some reason.

"Piss off with your turnips! real men should eat nothing but real meat, you can't build muscle without it!"

...

One week later during the patrol of the Flaming Fist garrison out of Fort Belurian a gorilla (who existed on completely vegetarian diet) tore Hog to bits. The rest of the otherwise terrified Flaming Fist (who generally didn't like Hog anyway) fled the rest of the advancing troop, leaving a shaking a petrified Emmet holding nothing but a mechanical eye scope and regret for ever leaving the burrow.

Emmet was swept up by his leg and spirited through the humid jungle at pace by an overly large gorilla. He has mercifully already passed out from fear though, so that was just fine by him. It was probably better that he wasn't awake for the journey which included brachiation, crossing ravines hundreds of meters deep over the flimsiest of moss dripping trees, and any number of yellow and red predatory eyes watching from the foliage. The journey took hours, and eventually when Emmet woke from his terrible dream? he found himself in a nest of palms and fronds with a really and a bruise that ringed his calf.

Alright. He was alive. Above him canopy. Alright, he can work with that.

Without moving his head, Emmet let his eyeballs drift left. Something large and hairy was huffing next to him.

Yikes.

""Edwin, do this." "Edwin, do that." Somebody get this jerk a banana." - Edwin Odesseiron

There was no one qualified to diagnose Whoomwha with a traumatic stress disorder secondary to having her baby babynapped by Baldurian poachers. Fortunately for her, she was feeling better after finding him again. Sure all his hair had fallen out, other than his head, he hadn't grown very much in the intervening 2 years, was wearing soiled civilised clothing, looked completely different and was initially very reluctant to take to her nipple but she knew it was him, she would recognise him anywhere. Her poor little Shumwha, who kept trying to run away and squealed in terror when she carried him into the highest of branches. Now that she had him back, she would never let him go again.
