As the caravan left the gates of Athkatla, he felt the safest he had been in weeks. The bouncing bumpy ride perched on the top of one of the carrages was the most comfortable he could remember. He tasted the air, it was sweet, it tasted of freedom.

He thought about the events that had been his life, up to this point, he had had no say, all that was about to change, the young elf had fled slavery, and escaped assasians, he felt on top of the world.

All of a sudden, the carrage lurched, the boy, losing his balance for a second, dropped the crossbow he had been given, it hit the canvas and slid, in a second he was after it, the caravan master would have the cost of it from his pay if he lost it, he told him so in town. The boy nimbilly darted after it and managed to recover it before it fell. He easily climbed back to his post, and breathed a sigh of relief, not believing no one had even noticed his slipup.
