City of Hammergrim, Second Layer of Acheron
Hanging from a drab black banner outside the Cave of Souls

In the name of the Broken Bolt, the Gray Protector, the Exile, the Most Unholy Laduguer, I, Odnerur Ironscribe, Keeper of Scrolls, Rune Binder and Grimherald, be hereby committing the following to the Memory and Grudge of the Gray Kin:

Let it be known that the soul of Tergrash Forgesnuffer, Lairdson of Clan Forgesnuffer, hailing from the City of Blades, Deepkingdom of the Prime Material world known as Abeir-Toril has arrived in the Halls of Toil, as to pass its fitting judgement, as ordained by the Harsh one.

Let it be known that the Lairdson perished in shame and defeat, as the accursed servants of Gruumsh the One-eye cowardly slayed him with arrow and scorching magic near the ruins of Ammarindar, Northdark, Faerun, Abeir Toril. Outnumbered clearly, yet the Lairdson stood true to his title and never even flinched, as he charged foes far more numerous than himself.

Let it be known that the Master of the Crate acknowledges such valor, but dourly reminds all of His servants that such acts are only expected by the totality of the Gray Kin, both in words and deeds.

Let it be known that Heresy was found tainting the Lairdson's soul... as in his early life as mortal, sought he and courtsied with the Fickle, the Ungrateful, the Traitorous, the False Father of the spiteful Morndinsamman in the human city of Triboar. And as the Harsh ordains, wavering of Faith righteously condemns the offender and invokes the Wrath of the Slave Driver.

Let it be known that status, battle valor and loyalty to one's Hearth and Clan are as naught to the eyes of the Broken Bolt, if the Gray Kin's soul is not totally filled with Faith to the dour embrace of the Toilmaster.

Judgement was passed; a verdict is inflicted; and Redemption is denied.

For 7, 000 years, a thousand for each one of the letters of the thrice-cursed Moradin's name, Toil shall be handled; Relief never to be felt. Treachery in life; Damnation in Death. Let the Lairdson's Forge remain Cold, his eternal struggle against Stone and Ore leaving him shamed and despaired. Rust shall cover his anvil and despair shall his soul feel, as is befitting to those doubtful of the Gray Protector's power. Let his spirit weep in the absence of the Exile's grim fold.

Only after such a period, as ordained above, shall the Lairdson's soul know the Broken Bolt's embrace again. Only then his waraxe shall sing again, to slay and serve the enemies of the Duergar, in grim battle and dour service eternal.

Signed in rust and blood,
Odnerur Ironscribe, Grimherald of the Exile

Awesome, HR!

As a witness to that short Heretic chapter in his life in Triboar (although not witness to his life in UD) I can only say; astounding character in life and astounding in death as well.

Bah, if I'd known the little grey git was going to run all the way to NU I'd have left him nailed to that bridge.

Nice epitaph, though.

Lol seems he went a long way since that beating at the bridge Rusty.

Good show and a memorable character for sure. A classic Duergar PC.

Tergrash Forgesnuffer. See you on the other side my friend, for the end is nigh.

ep·i·taph (ĕp'ĭ-tăf')

n.

1)An inscription on a tombstone in memory of the one buried there.
2)A brief literary piece commemorating a deceased person.

[Middle English, from Old French epitaphe, from Latin epitaphium, from Greek epitaphion, from neuter of epitaphios, funerary : epi-, epi- + taphos, tomb.]
