A Voice In The Woods

*Alendir rests gently on his knees by the center stone, his face calm, body relaxed, the begins to chant softly. After his voice has steadied and the forest grove hears his voice, the elf intones a verse in the druidic tongue, the strength of the chant lending power to his words.*
Treefather, renewer of Life
A cycle here shifts this day,
A forest pure is lost.
The Balance shifts to darker hues
And your people retreat farther.
Much life begun is now to end,
A night descends on Rystall Wood.
Light stays strong, though all seems dire,
I must trust in the force of fire.
From each inferno springs life anew,
These foes we face will come to rue
Their trespass on these lands.
I ask now for your strength and might,
For your great wisdom and courage
For aid this night.
Whatever path takes me from here,
I choose with heart and vision clear.
Nature be my strength, Rillifane father my will.
*Alendir resumes his quiet chant, intoning the ancient words in a voice as clear as song.*
I had a lot of time on my hands during a session in which the druid was praying, so I wrote a little something. It's not been edited or rewritten...I figure as Alendir is no poet my skills with words may match his own.
