Butterfly

Post by Zakharra »

This is from what I remember of a very momentous time for Inthara. The birth of her son. I tried to get the conversations as accurat as I could. I thank the players and DMs of TFN for a wonderful and very intense experiance.

Butterfly, The Birth
Inthara was washing the dishes in the kitchen of the tower. Heavily pregnant, she had been in a very strange mood for days. Riralia had said that she might be like this, but Inthara had never thought it would strike so hard. She was cleaning. From the roof top floor to the bottom, she had scrubbed washed and cleaned. It had taken days to do and she had done it twice already. Even going as far to reorganize the library.

As she washed, she thought back on the last year. She, along with Sheyreiza and Tel had been banished. For breaking the rules that Jain'n, the Lord of Lonelywood, had set down. Fighting enemies while pregnant. She and Sheyreiza had been visibly pregnant. Tel had not been pregnant, but she had been blamed for not keeping Inthara and Sheyreiza safe. Nylo and Riraila had been blamded as well and punished. Although their punishment was not as hard as The three Ilythiir women had been.

Jain'n had told her that she needed to follow a few guides to be allowed back in the Wood and Grove. If she didn't follow them, she could either stay here in the village as a vilager, leave or become a independant adventurer. Never being allowed to set foot in the Grove again.

The rules were laid down by the ancestor that Sheyreiza called the velvet matron. She still remembered her voice speaking in that silky smooth voice. "You will have to do some things before you will be allowed back into the warband and to the Grove. Do these and you will have your baby in the Grove."

She nodded. Her hands folded on her swollen belly.

"First, you will keep your baby safe. You will not put yourself or your unborn in danger. Second, you must stop complaining all the time. You will not say a word of complaint and do as you are told. Third, you will follow the orders given to you by Jain'n and his lietentants. They have the authoerity and will be obeyed in matters of defense."

She nodded slowly. Her teeth chewing on her lip.

"Fourth, you will learn to care for your child. This means you will learn to communion to your baby. Riralia can teach you. Fith, you will stop wearing that blindfold. You will get used to the sunlight and adjust. And lastly," The matron chuckled. "You'll love this one." She said quietly. A smile coming across Jain'n's face. "You will befriend Jhessera."

Inthara's face paled to a light grey. "Nau! I can't do that! Please..anything else, but not that."

"No. You have to do all of those and only when you fullfill them will you be allowed back in. Fail and you will stay here. A villager."

The young sorceress nearly fell off of her pillow. Her entire body trembling. She feared dragons above everything else in Toril. Why, she did not know entirely, but she knew what dragons could do to a elf. Even the so called 'good' dragons were very territorial and vicious in defending what they concidered theirs. Which in her eyes was everything they coveted. She had met the dragon, Jhessera, several times and each time it had been a struggle to not run away screaming in fear. "Please...anything but that. I can't face the dragon. You KNOW that."

The matron merely smiled. "You have no choice. Those are the rules you have to follow to be allowed to come back into the warband. The boy needs to know that he can trust his warband to follow orders. Or you can stay here. It is your choice Butterfly" The matron left then. Leaving Inthara alone in the guest lodge. Her only companions the crackle of the fire and howl of the wind outside.

She had lain in the guesthouse for a week. Not moving except for needed trips to use the chamberpot and to eat some food. Slowly, she pulled out of her despair and bent down to her tasks. She needed to. For her child and herself.

It had taken many months to do all of the requiements that was asked of her. The druid, Riralia had taught her how to talk to the child in her womb. Teaching Inthara to care for a newborn baby and growing child. Never once had she uttered a word of complaint. Every morning and evening, she was found by the wardens, outside on the shore of the lake. Gazing into the direction of the rising and setting sun. During the daylight, she spent up on the hillside at Breunor's Run. Talking to Nylo. He had been banished there for a month. For not keeping the two pregnant ilythiir back in the Wood.

He never spoke to her, so she filled the long silence with words. Saying the words of her youth and the elven word that matched it. Teaching him her native language. After his banishment as over, she turned to other tasks. Doing what she was asked by Jain'n and his lietentants. She had done everything except for one. The last and most difficult. To befriend Jhessera.

That was made possible only by the intervention of Jain'n's adopted daughter. T'ia. She had come to the greenhouse where Inthara and Nylo were talking. In her innocence, she had gotten the reluctant sorceress and neophyt priestess to go where she did not want to. To the dragon's lair.

It was a trembling heavily pregnant sorceress stood outside the entrance to Jhessera's home. She glanced at Nylo and T'ia. They would not follow her in. She had to face the dragon alone. She took a deep breath and raising her head high, she walked inside to face her greatest fear.

Inthara's reverie was interrupted when she realized that she had finished all of the dishes. Smiling at the memory, she put the plates away in the cabinet. She was just putting the last one in when a pain stabbed thru her abdomen. Gasping, she dropped the plate. It's shattering on the floor went unnoticed as Inthara wrapped her arms around her swollen belly. It was time.

Quickly, she moved out into the larger room. looking for anyone. "Nylo? Riralia? Jain'n?" No one answered her. Then she remembered, they were all away on a patrol.

A low whine caught her ear. She turned to see a wolf approaching her. Fear raced thru her as she remembered how dangeroius wolves could be. Then she noticed the white on the wolf's muzzle. The drop to it's ears and grey in it's pelt. It's posture was not that of an impending attack. The wolf walked closer to her and she was the awkward gait. This was a old she-wolf. Hesitently, she reached out for it and the wolf licked her hand. Then taking her fingers gently in her mouth, she pulled Inthara out of the tower.

"Where are you taking me?" She asked the wolf. It whined again and continued to pull her along. The she-wolf lead her to the Grove. There was a pile of fresh pine branches lying in front of the central stone. The wolf lead her there and pulled her down. Inthara sat carefully. She felt no pain. In fact she had felt no pain at all except for the sharp stab she had felt in the tower. The only thing she felt now was a tightening of her belly as her body readied itself to birth her son.

The old wolf laid down beside her. Snuggling in close, Inthara felt a wave of tiredness wash over her. She yawned and laid down beside the wolf. Before sliding into reverie, she noticed several other wolves taking up positions around the entrances to the Grove. Huge wolves in the prime of life. A otherworldly glow shown from them. Inthara instinctively recognized that thie were His wolves. The servants of the Leaf-lord, Rillifane Rallathil. He would be watching over this very special birth.

She was woken by the voice of her beloved Heart. Sheyreiza. The priestess knelt infront of Inthara. "Why are you here?"

"It is time. I am going to birth my son."

Sheyreiza glanced at the huge wolves standing silently.

"They are the Leaf-lord's. He will watch and guard." The pregnant drow said.

Sheyreiza nodded. "It will be safe then. Let me look at you Butterfly." She nodded and laid back down. Spreading her legs for the priestess. Sheyreiza's cool expert fingers moved her skirts up and she checked the sorceress. "You are nearly ready to deliver. Are you feeling any pain?"

"Nau. I'm not feeling any pain. There was a single stab at the tower, but nothing since then." Inthara panted. Her belly tightening harder before relaxing.

Sheyreiza glanced at Inthara. "You are blessed then." A sideways glance to the wolves.

Inthara nodded, then gasped as her water broke. Soaking her legs, rump and skirts.

"It will come faster now. Your body is ready to deliver." Sheyreiza took off the wet dress and folded the sorceress's cloak into a pad and laid it under her. Her eyes now on the task at hand. To help deliver Inthara's child. Sheyreiza and Inthara ignored everything else.

Nylo and Jain'n showed up later with a new elf that was looking to join the warband and was being trained. Nylo quickly took up postition behind Inthara. Supporting her laboring body. The others stood back and watched.

"You are doing well love. Soon our child will be born." He said. Inthara nodded. She was still feeling no pain but her belly was tight all over. Her breath came in pasping pants. Sweat shining on her naked flesh as she held back the urge to push.

Sheyreiza looked up finally and nodded. "It's time Butterfly. Now push when you feel the urge to."

Inthara nodded and took in a deep breath. "Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!" she cried. Now going with the urge. It seemed like forever that she pushed and pushed. Sheyreiza's hands were cool on her sex as she checked her often. Inthara felt hot sensation at her sex as she tore. Then with another loud cry, Inthara pushed a last time and her son slid out on a sudden gush of birth fluids and blood. She collasped back against Nylo. Exhausted. Her eyes closing for a moment.

Sheyreiza cleaned off the newborn boy. Making sure that he was intact. After a quick check in Inthara, she continued to look at the baby. The newborn was large. Much larger than a normal baby. Her red and blue eye checked closer. She tied and cut the umbilical cord now that it was drained of blood. The boy looked like a wood elf. Dark skinned like one. He had the blue eyes of a newborn babe, but his hair. That was the unusual thing about him. It was pale. Wood elves had dark hair. This was the only physical sign of the child's Ilythiiri blood.

Inthara stirred and sat back up. "My son? Let me see him." Sheyreiza handed him to her and checked her again. Nylo beamed. Filled to bursting with pride.

"Butterfly, you will deliver the afterbirth. It will be bloody and messy. Don't panic. It's a natural thing. I wil leave you in Nylo's hands. I need to see to Shein'n."

The two new parents nodded as Sheyreiza left. The others having depatred unnoticed. Leaving them alone. Inthara cradled her new son. Placing him at her milk swollen breast. She gently stroked his pale hair. "My son, Vraja. Look at our son Nylo." He cleaned up the afterbirth and his lover and mother to their child. Replacing the pad under her as she nursed the baby Vraja.

The sunlight fell slowly. The skies clear and the moon rising to the west. nearly full. In the Heart of Lonelywood, was a new mother and father with a newborn babe. Protected by the gods of the Heart and Rillifane.

If I had known the name-of-the-game in TFN was not really "Dungeons & Dragons" but "Deliveries & Diapers" I am not sure I would have gone up there....

;)

J/K Nice story Zak, I liked it alot. And as far as the conversations go, I think you were DAMN accurate. It looks like you had a log to go off or something. Nicely done.

Thanks for reading it.

Mik, I did not have a log to read off of. I had to do it by memory. Since some of this happened over 4 months ago, I had to remember pretty hard, but luckily the good RP sticks in my mind better.
