DAMN!!! dubble-damn even.. I simply love staring at them, the feel of "movement" is truly THERE, not a easy feat but you prove over and over again you master it.. and even if the color images are superb I put them B/W way above... GREAT WORK!!!!

now.... just ignore Mikaela and the others  and stay with us stout ones, we look better on drawings :P :P :P

I suppose I could pull her out of retirement, but I was actually getting a bit bored with her. Plus there are some other deities I think would be more fun to roleplay a cleric under.

Silently the motley group walked on in darkness, using the stars, and outlines of hills, for guidance. They had left the path that had stretched like a pale band before them for many hours, and now their boots tread on soft grass, every step bringing them closer to the danger they were seeking out.

Up ahead went the Lathanderite Paladin, who had decided to accompany the group when they announced their decision to root out the Black Tooth orcs that were encamped north of Shadowdale town. He kept a grim, foreboding silence as if foreseeing some tragedy in the brewing. After him came the Kara-Turian, walking with disciplined steps, his exotic armour making an unusual silhouette in the faint light. Then followed the armoured priest, the green-clad woman with the bow, the halfling, and Nari himself, all walking in a group.

Nari looked his companions over as he trudged alongside them. They were mostly like him, fresh in their armour, moving with some awkwardness but carried forward by a great enthusiasm for their calling: adventurers. Only the paladin and the Kara-Turian warrior seemed to have much experience. Nari wondered exactly what they would face when they came upon the Black Tooth camp, and how each one would stand up to the enemy.

The trees closed in around them and soon the only light was glimpsed through dense foliage above them. Often someone in the party stumbled in the dark, with a clanking of armour plates and a quiet curse. Luckily nothing seemed to note their clamorous passage. The ground started rising and eventually they emerged from the trees, looking up a grassy incline that seemed to end rather abruptly. This stretched on ahead of them to the east. The paladin motioned for silence and conferred with the Kara-Turian in whispers.

It was decided that the halfling would creep forward and scout the hillside. He slipped off and soon could not be seen anymore in the terrain. Several breathless minutes passed before he reappeared. "At least two orcs some ways off to the east. Perhaps more. And a cave in the cliff below the edge. Think I heard orc voices coming from down there."

It was decided to move forward and strike quickly, before the guards had time to alert anyone. As silently as possible the party left the trees and started up the incline. The paladin motioned for them to stop and listen. They now heard guttural voices, seeming to argue over something, not far ahead of them. The paladin raised his mace and gave the signal. They rushed forward. They saw a group of shadowy, bulky figures sitting and standing about fifty yards ahead. The orcs looked up just as the archer set an arrow to her bow and let fly. It whizzed over the heads of the onrushing companions and hit an orc in the throat. It went down gurgling.

The others barely had time to draw their weapons before the adventurers were over them. The Kara-Turian quickly cut down several and the rest scattered. Nari buried his axe in the belly of one orc who ran in his direction. Soon they were all dead, and the company hurried to the cliff edge to see if any were below. They saw none, but there were noises coming from the dark shadow they surmised must be the cave entrance. The Kara-Turian clambered down and the rest followed him.

Nari felt his heart pound with excitement, and the adrenaline surging through his veins. They had barely reached the valley floor when another group of orcs emerged. They were also charged and cut down. Now the adventurers stopped for breath, straining their eyes and ears to make out what was going on inside the cave. A faint flicker of a camp fire could be seen deep down on the cave walls, but there was no sound.

They knew they had to strike fast, but they all seemed reluctant to rush into that unknown darkness. It was decided that the stealthy halfling would sneak in and take a peek, so as to prevent any ambushes or traps. Wiping the sweat off his brow, with a final doubtful glance at the others, he snuck into the cave mouth and was instantly swallowed by the darkness. The others gripped their weapons tighter, looked at each other and waited. Some prayed silently. Then, suddenly, they heard the halfling cry for help.

The Kara-Turian, who was standing closest to the cave, lept forward. The others followed as fast as they could, stumbling down the rough passage. The clash of steel and guttural war cries were heard. They came into a large cave, lit by a camp fire, just in time to see the Kara-Turian, surrounded by many orcs, slashing wildly around him, being stabbed in the back and go down. With a shrill cry they charged. "By Clangeddin's Twin Axes!" Nari yelled, and threw himself at the orcs. One of them he shoved aside with his shield, and the next he felled with an axeblow to the skull. But it was too late. Although many orcs had fallen, both the halfling and the Kara-Turian lay among them.

Then a deep growl was heard from behind a corner. They looked up and pulled back from the opening in the wall where an enormous orc with a great, cruel-looking double axe stepped out. This was the Black Tooth Chieftan. He roared at them and lept forward. The Lathanderite led the charge against him. The Blacktooth Chieftain swung with terrible force and everyone he hit was thrown back against the walls or to the floor. But the adventurers fought with renewed energy and fierceness, and parrying his blows as best they could, or staggering under his onslaught but withdrawing to hurriedly down magical healing draughts, managed to slash or strike at him from all sides. Finally an arrow found its mark in his throat, blood ran from between his great canines, and he crashed to the floor.

Panting, the survivors stood around, leaning on their weapons or slumped on the floor. With sorrow, they picked up their fallen comrades, and with anger, they struck off the chieftain's head and put it in a sack. With heavy hearts they gathered themselves and begun the trek back to Shadowdale.

The town and its environs enjoyed some peace for a while after this, and the fallen adventurers were raised for a token fee by the Lathanderites, in gratitude for their effort.
