Blood stained his fists. His back was scorched. His expression brutal.

The chain connected them.

Her lips were licked in a moment of nervousness.

"Explain" he said.

Swit rubbed thumbs to fingers. "Explain what" she said, making it a statement more than a question. "The healing magic!" he shouted, filling the enclosed wretched stinking place with his anger. Swit drew back from him a few steps, as far as the chain would allow. "It's not my fault" she said. "Then whos fault is it?" he growled, his features darkening.

Swits expression became startled and she pointed behind him to Mia "She stirs!" Swit cried. Clavin turned quickly to look. Swit cast quickly, her spell taking effect almost immedietly.

Clavin turned back, a calmer look on his face. "I am sure you had your reasons, just please dont trick me again friend, we are in this together" he said lifting the chain that linked them together. Swit just swallowed hard and nodded.

"Come, we should search and take what we can" Clavin said indicating the pile of the dead. Swit nodded and together, working side by side they pawed over the dead.

A treasure trove to the desperate. Clothes which stank of death and shit, but still clothes. A dagger for Swit, a long mace for Clavin. A sack full of firewood. Nothing to light it with naturally. The miniature Otyugh was dispatched handily by Clavin when it made for Swits leg. Two swift thumps, one to stop it, one to finish it.

They left the cave as the sun rose. Fetid air driving them from the shelter.
"Who was she do you suppose?" asked Clavin with a cheerful tone. Swit shrugged and indicated that they should continue onwards. Clavin took the lead with a firm stride. Swit did her best to keep up, a worried look upon her face.

Swit and Clavin trekked on, Clavin in the lead, Swit trying to keep pace with him staring worried holes into his back.

The day wore on and wore on Swit whos pace slowed as thoughts and exhaustion added weight to her legs.

Clavin was not sympathetic. "Come along now Swit, we must make haste if we are to evere find a way out of these mountains. Summer cannot last forever" he warned. Swit nodded trying to limit her words spoken.

Abrubtly the trail ascended winding up and around a cliff face. Clavin marched on. Only night made him stop. They sheltered in a hollow. Night brang them stars, a chill but most significantly - signs of life.

Just as they were dozing off Clavin nudged her awake with a shushing sound. He pointed down and across. Swit followed his finger. A modest fire could be seen. Far away. It was upon occasion broken as something or somone walked in front of it.

Clavin helped her to her feeting cutting of her protests of "No" with a much firmer "Yes". "We are dead if we do not find some source of aid" he said "I'll not eat ants and drink piss any longer".

Swit frowned at his back, looking around quickly before following his brutal pace down the trail.

They stumbled and tripped in the dim light trying to minimise the noise from the chain and the curses they spoke as they skinned kness and stubbed toes. Hours later after losing and regaining sight of the fire time and again they were but a hundred meters away. Both peeked out from behind rounded boulders at those around the fire.

A bald man, a blond woman both unarmored. Two children. And... a half orc?

Swit and Clavin moved closer.

Swit slapped a hand to her mouth stiffling a gasp. Clavin shot her a look. "Oh no" she whispered "Oh no, oh no". "What is it? you know them?" whispered back Clavin. Before she could reply one of the children stood up and pointed in their direction. Clavin turned to move away but was tripped by Swit.

"Help!" she screamed.

The figures sprang into action at her screams. The half orc and human male came sprinting down towards Swit and Clavin at a breakneck pace. Swit continued to pull against the chain that held her, screaming of rape and murder and violence done against her.

The human and half orc jumped upon Clavin restraining him with weight and nourishment. His struggles and protestations were smothered.

"Whats all this then Switty my love?" asked one of the child resembling hin who sauntered up to the struggle. Swit just growled and demanded the death of Clavin upon the spot. "Rape!, Murder!, Sodomy! hes done" she shrieked pointing at Clavin who moved his head to the negative looking furious. All eyes turned to Clavin. "Let him speak" directed the ribboned hin. The half orc moved a green hand from Clavins mouth. "Lies" he said simply.

All eyes returned to Swit. She pointed at Clavin. "He lies!"

"Well" said the hin grinning "there is only one thing for it". All eyes turned to him now. "A trial!" came the pleased words.

The trial proceeded in short order. Swit and Clavin were made to sit together, the half orc standing behind them menacingly. The human man now revealed to be completely hairless was away in the shadows with the woman, talking in low tones and fondling. The two children, now hin in the firelight presisded, the male in ribbons, the woman in frustrated dissaproval.

"I may be addressed as King Perry" informed King Perry. "There is no need to address any else here for I am their sovereign" he pronounced grandly earning himself a stomped foot from the female hin next to him. He continued wincing. "You both stand accused of murder, rape, cattle rustling, tax evasion, loitering with and wthout purpose, and so forth, what do you have to say for yourselves?" came the question from the puffed up hin.

Clavin bit back his anger and spoke as calmly as possible "Innocent". Swit let her anger fly with the words "I will see my father see you dead for this idiot runt".

The hin woman sniggered at King Perry whos smile was no less broad than before. "She sounds guilty, doesnt she?" he asked grandly looking to his companions. He was ignored by the humans in the shadows, glared at by the female hin, and looked at patiently by the half orc. "Very well, your plea has been heard, I have decided upon the evidence allready, and my decision pends upon my er... decision..... Swit is guilty" King Perry went on ignoring Swits glare. "Yes, guilty, guilty, guilty, what to do with a murderering cattle rustler? castration! no wait, it would be a shame to cut off a set of rocks as big as yours switty" the hin was brutallly interupted as Swits head was pulped by the half orcs club.

Clavin panicked and tried to flee, but was offcourse hampered by the chains and dead wieght of Swits body.

"Too early!" wailed King Perry wiping a little fluid from his rippons. "I was suposed to say and what do you think I -would- do and than you hit her with your wood" King perry grumbled. The half orc looked unapologetic and pointed at clavin who was trying to scramble away. King Perry shrugged and then nodded watching as the half orc stalked then methodicly beat Clavin to death.

"My but those scream do echo" observed King Perry looking out to the mountain sky.

"So now we can go back?" asked the half orc, wiping his club on the remnants of Clavin. "We most certainly can" observed King Perry pulling a wooden tube from inside his vest. He snapped it without delay and looked around expectantly.

A minute passed and with it the face of King Perry became more agitated. He looked down at the broken tube. "Work!" he cried as he crumbled it in his hands. "Take me home!" he wailed. The party was watching him now.

King Perry looked around the group marking the expressions of fear, anger, and confusion.

He spoke what have been famous last words for many "I think we may have a little problem".
