***I am a member of a fine rp'ing org (http://valinoraerospace.com/) for the upcoming "Star Citizen" extravaganza/game. The story below was posted for short story raffle thingy they're running. Just a potential scrap of story for a possible personality I might create for the game. I thought I might as well share here for those who enjoy.***

Chapter 17.

It is said in space that no one can hear you scream. It is certain though, that at times, they do hear you curse.

This was a good dream, with a soft bed, soft women, and soft lighting. It was ended all too early though by a savage static blast of some joker slicing into the comm and forcing “Flight of the Valkyries” over the speakers in the cramped enclosure of the Aurora (LX). Victor came up with a start and the word “Pirates!” on his lips...

“Pira...” *thunk*. The sound of a man waking up overly fast and thinly skinned frontal bones meeting rsi-forged composite steel (with muted echo) in the cramped confines of an aurora sleeping pod. Dizzy and cursing (“Ffffffffuuuuuu.....”) he hauled himself out feet first towards the controls...

He grabbed hold of the pilot chair, bracing himself. The ship was spinning, unnaturally... no, wait. It was the savage head to ship blow blurring his vision. The jarring music suddenly stopped. Victors vision settled. Sitting about twenty meters in front of him (and somewhat jarringly inverted upside down (relatively)) was a cutlass with all guns trained on him. It was close enough that he could see a dark helmeted figure in the opposing pilot seat. The figure was waving (jovially).

The comms crackled... “Sorry about that”. Gingerly Victor touched the lump on his forehead. It was already swelling, though his hand came away un-bloodied at least. He reached forward and opened up the channel fully.

“Yeah, no doubt. I’m being jacked then?” he enquired, still groggy from the impact and somewhat from being rudely awoken.

“Indeed you are!” came the cheerful reply “kindly release the box, and we’ll both be on our way”.

“Ffffffffuuuuuu.....” he groaned, reaching forward to hit the big red button that released the store-all from the rails. “There” he grumbled, climbing over the pilots chair and settling in “anything else, or can I leave now?”.

“No, no, you’ve been very kind indeed. You are free to continue on... oh, and sorry about the knock on the head, not the best way to start the day!”. Damn smug pirates.

Victor gently eased away from both the cutlass and drifting store-all, before accelerating away towards home. Those ghosts really weren't paying him enough to do their dirty trojan work, he thought rubbing at the eye sized bump on his forehead and wincing.

I've spent my last two years away from ALFA helping build up SUN, (Systems United Navy) a sizable PMC org in Star Citizen.

If you ever need an escort through those pirate infested areas you just give me a shout, I take cutlasses apart with my Super Hornet.
