Rion of Erb wrote:*A flash of yellow eyes, many of them all about, is all Dar'il sees before feeling wolf fangs piercing through his side and forcing him to the ground. His hand reaches for his dagger as he rolls across the tall grass, thrusting it deep into the chest of the wolf as they tumble. Another leaps at Dar, teeth glowing in the moonlight, only to be tackled in mid air by his own wolf companion, already bloodied from a kill. Before he can gather a thought claws dig into his chest and swipe past his face. He reverses the grip on his blade and goes for the wolves neck. Fighting through the fierce claws and brute strength of the magnificent animal the two lock eyes for a moment, truly lock eyes, and it's as if they both hesitate. Then from his back Dar shoves the blade into the wolfs neck. The body goes limp almost instantly as blood gushes out all over him, and then suddenly, howls fill the forest air as the remaining wolves scurry off into the hills. As the howls fade away the wild elf lays in a pool of wolves blood, his last words before falling unconscious, “Amin hiraetha “.*
*He awakes some time later to a warm tongue sliding across his face at a feverish rate, and the familiar whimper from his wolf companion. He eventually makes his way to the nearby Silvanus temple where he heals his wounds, but not his heart, and not his soul. It does not take away the guilt he feels, it does not give him comfort that he had no choice in his actions, it does not remove the doubt that the wolf might not have killed him....*
*Prayers, meditations and chants follow until interrupted by visitors to the Temple. Louen, Tal and one named Zry had heard the wolf howls and followed the trail of blood. Seems the answers would have to wait for another time.*
