Requital: An Introduction

Post by Ros-King »

Promises can be very complicated. If they are broken, you are consumed with a feeling of bitter guilt. But sometimes keeping the promise causes you to feel equally guilty. Therefore, you are left with a choice, and no choice is made without consequence. Many people in such a situation would choose to do whatever left them with the least amount of guilt afterwards. But what if lives were affected, no matter what choice you made, and the damage could never be undone? Yes, promises can be very complicated, and as Arduin Moonvale stared from his room’s balcony at the rising sun, he thought about how he had struggled with a promise for the last twenty years, and how if he decided to fulfill it on that new day, a part of his life would come to an end.

No matter how hesitant he was however, Arduin passionately wanted to slay the abomination he once called his brother. It was the great love he once held for Iris that caused this feeling of hesitance. But he reminded himself that Iris was gone in his eyes...and the creature that had been evading him for so long was someone else entirely. So after much thought on the matter, Arduin ultimately did make a choice that day, unconcerned with whatever the consequences would prove to be. Twenty years of the Elf’s life would soon be over, or so he confidently thought.
