"Refugee Guide" brochure - customs & behaviour in Germanland

Post by Veilan »

This made me chuckle and think at the same time. I also wish some more Germans would actually read this guide, most things mentioned are very common and I would say observed by the majority, but certainly not universal, likely depending on "class". It is a very brief orientation leaflet for people arriving here (some of you might have heard that Germany took in a large share of migrants the last two years).

It also made me wonder if any of the customs actually differ greatly in other ALFAn countries. I would think not, since most of us are from "western" countries? But might be fun to know. It might also help if you plan to visit as a tourist, heh.

Anyway, here's the link to the English version:

The power of concealment lies in revelation.

The United States is similar in some regards to Germany. The only differences are that the US is not accepting of public nudity, people of the US have less tendency to offer constructive criticism (and are more likely to offer criticism) and take constructive criticism poorly, usually becoming defensive. People in the US are less likely to say hello and goodbye to strangers.

Whether it is an escalator, a walking platform, or the lanes on a road, people in the US have absolutely horrible lane discipline and will rarely move to the right when appropriate to do so.

Very timely. I have found out in another year I will be a refugee in Germany myself!

*puts pants on head and runs around the streets of Frankfurt making *whoop whoop* noises and assaulting German women*

:pals: :pint:
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
