NaNoWriMo 2013
It is nearly time once again for all the monkeys to get together and bash their typewriters frantically in the hope of producing something that looks like a 50,000 word novel in just the 30 days of November. I am once again participating, looking to go 3 from 3.
I invite everyone with even a passing interest in the written word to join in and see how you go. The worst that can happen is you tried something you may have otherwise thought impossible! How bad is that? Not bad at all!
Site: http://www.nanowrimo.org/
If you wish to add me as a writing buddy (for competition or encouragement throughout the month) my nickname is Siaer.
If you do not join us, Lou will bash you with a wiffle bat!

If I can fit it in, I will. I plan to do a better job this year and start from scratch.

The worst that can happen is you give up but it is guaranteed you will have written more than anyone who doesn't give it a try, so if you have any interest in writing there is nothing to lose!

Nothing bad comes of Nanowrimo for a participant.
Possible outcomes:
You try and hit 50K or more WAHOOOOO
You try and don't hit 50K WAHOOO you have words, a start, an idea what was previously thoughts is now solid
You don't try. November is exactly the same as October.
Premium outcomes:
You have a freaking book. A la Swift, a la Sara Gruen
You have a great time
The only real losers in Nanowrimo are the literary agents who are swamped with unedited hastily written work come November. Don't do this. Nanowrimo is very very much quantity over quality.
Edited to add this little piece of enthusiasm I wrote last year.
loulabelle wrote:Huzzah another one to the Insanity Pyre!! Yes yes yes do Nano, it is fun. Find your fellow local Wrimos, go to writeins, participate in word wars, do the sleepover party (that might be just my Region...) make it fun and social. It's tough to do Nano alone. Befriend your MLs, we do not bite and chances are, we'll word war with you to the 11th hour if needed to help you win. Or bring you coffee, chocolate or write you personal pep talks.
Nano isn't about writing a perfect story. Nano is about getting a story down in a short amount of time. A story... with typoes, grammar errors, half finished sentences, plot holes, characters whose eyes change colour. A mechanically imperfect story, but a story where characters are created, who do wonderful and terrible things, who have dialogue and who live and die. Nano is about planting the seed and growing the tree. You can prune it to a perfect topiary later.

Re: NaNoWriMo 2013
Ok I've got one: Loulabelle misses some of Ronan's sessions because she is busy writing. When Lou finally logs in again, she finds her PC has accumulated 100 good points and has founded a chain of orphanages. Also said PC has married Rumple's orc and popped out a dozen orc-blooded screamers, because Rumple was also busy writing instead of playing!loulabelle wrote:Nothing bad comes of Nanowrimo for a participant.

Re: NaNoWriMo 2013
Rumple will not be entering the writing fest. He will be far to busy rp'ing impregnating loubs PC. Please notify me of her fertility cycles for maximum success. He needs to get his life/death tally in credit or the celestial beurocracy (damn spell check never helps me when I need it most) will not be pleased.
PS. You were good, but I was great.

Well that escalated quickly...
... and into a plotline for Nanowrimo!

Look at all these other losers.
This is my tenth year it seems.
Gonna be tough now that I have a job where I can't write at work and I have a life on weekends.

Re: NaNoWriMo 2013
You're still all losers. It was just nice effectively getting paid to write the last couple years.
Of course if I could get published I could do that all the time.

The erotic fiction board on the NaNo forums is way busier during November than I ever thought it would be.
