It's an MMO, admittedly, but it could be a much more promising one than DDO ultimately turned out to be based on some of their key premises. Who knows? Maybe some of the ideas will actually get people who would otherwise be naming their toons LOLKILLA on DDO to consider the storyline/RP elements. And Paizo seems to be run by some talented, intelligent people who are less dollar driven than WOTC imo.

Oooh. I like FR, but I can move to another setting if this has decent DMing and people aren't idiots about RPing.
First Character: Zyrus Meynolt, the serene Water Genasi berserker. "I am the embodiment of the oceans; serene until you summon the storm." Zyrus: http://tinyurl.com/9emdbnd
Second Character: Damien Collins, the atypical druid. "What? Being a stick in the mud is boring. No pun intended grins"
Western Heartlands HDM: On break. PM for emergencies

Seems promising, but I have a difficult time getting excited for another MMO. As good as GW2 is, it just isnt really dynamic.
I think this is a straight skill-based MMO similar to any other MMO on the market, right? Its not a world builder with DM capabilities. I also dont think its really using Pathfinder rules, instead going towards a TES-esque skills-based level-up system.

Re: Hm...
I am extremely wary of MMOs on Kickstarter for the primary reason that MMOs generally cost an order of magnitude more money than regular single/multiplayer games and have the added burden of requiring bulletproof server hardware.
Even if they were to become the most successful crowdfunded game (~6.2 million), that is still an exceptionally small amount of money for an MMO that needs vastly more content on launch than any other genre of games. Even if "players are the content", they still need to build a world for that all to happen in.
I will keep my eye on it as it looks interesting, but my stance of not backing MMOs on Kickstarter will remain.
PS: Their idea to empower players in the beta is a noble one, but players are the absolute worst people to listen to regarding how to design a game or the order in which they implement features. MMO players are, by and large, selfish people who call for what benefits them most, not what is actually best for the game.

Yeah, this is true and it's the main thing that makes me think this all might be nice and noble in intent, but will not work out so well without some means to filter out certain kinds of players. Still, one can blithely remain hopeful that it truly will be a PF game and it truly will draw players who wish to RP/interact with a dynamic world, not simply MMO players that want to kill stuff.

People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.
