Sandy will be coming over my area today or tomorrow, so I will be out of contact for a while unless the thing totally surprises everyone. Here's hoping we get power back the day after it hits.

the winds from this one will be a joke (unless you were the lazy piglet and build a straw house..

) however i'd advise everyone to look out for storm surge... this thing passed us way off coast, and this is what coast looked like yesterday...

Yeah... we're going to get hit by it within the next few hours. Hoping to hell we don't have too much surging from the river.

I am currently standing on the roof of my house (possibly naked, but possibly clothed) shouting taunts to the storm ala Lieutenant Dan on the shrimpin boat.

Well, by some miracle, our power lines haven't been knocked out.
Apparently the power company for our area is going nuts keeping transformers and crap online. I knew they were preparing ,but didn't expect them to go totally crazy about it.
Now just need to worry about the river floods.

Trees down everywhere in my neighborhood. House across the street from me literally cut in half by fallen tree. NYC is devastated. Family and friends OK thank God.

You can always come to the NW, we only have earthquakes. Otherwise the Puget Sound makes it Tsunami-safe. We only have snow once a year and maybe one ice storm.
Take care you'all. Be safe and smart and I hope you all ride through things in good shape.

16 hours without power, one destroyed glass-top pation table, and lots of torn siding.
Came out of it pretty well here.

Here are two news clips from the marinas near our house less than 200 meters away. (We keep our sailboat at Whiskey Island but had already put her on the hard for the winter before the storm hit)

We got out ok, power was out for only 24hrs but areas around us will be out for days I am told, and the street lights are still out all over the place.
Without power, my basement filled with about 5 inches of water, but it is unfinished so that is ok. I will have to pay for a roof and siding repair as you can see. But if you look at the last photo, my house is on the left. I am starting to think maybe God doesn't hate me personally.
