Medieval Books

Post by loulabelle »

I was at the Virginia Festival of the Book and had the luck to meet Randy Asplund, a SF&F illustrator who also creates medieval illuminated books according to traditional methods. Super nice bloke and his website has extensive details on how he makes the books. In addition to finished and unfinished books, his table had examples of natural dyes and storage of prepared dyed etc that immediately made me think of our RP world. Little details like this (maybe it's just me...) add to the richness and depth our our fantasy land! Useful info for me and my PC, I thought I'd spread the info!

If you get a chance to see his work up close, definitely do it. Really nice bloke and his handiwork is just incredible.

(Edited to add some pretty pictures)
