xcom: Enemy unknown remake

Post by Blindhamsterman »

Not sure how many of you will have played the original or are into squad based RTS games.

But the xcom series (and the UFO series too i guess) are RTS games with some pretty good RPG elements, and the original XCOM: Enemy Unknown (also known as UFO: Enemy Unknown) was considered one of the best games of the 90s.

aaaanyway, yeah it's getting a remake, I stumbled upon news of this while rumaging for more BG:EE news heh.

Yes, me and mine have been keeping a close eye on this little beauty. It's been a long time since I was this excited about a game release. (Played all of the turn based X-Com games front to back, inside out, and round and about.)

well, this one is thankfully sticking to turn based, it looks very 'faithful' as the guys say.

Really like the art style too, amd the new style for the base building looks like a nice concept.

Definitely something I'll get engrossed in :D

Hmm, I kind of liked the option for real-time or turn-based play from X-COM 3.

Still X-COM might be my favorite game ever... so this is awesome.

That function was okay but it never really felt intuitive. Turn-based all the way IMO, but I'm a grognard (wargames) so I would say that.

*whimper*

GIEF NAO!
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.
