Ready Player One

Post by dergon darkhelm »

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.

I was given this book by a freind over the weekend and am only 80 pages in but I swear..

Every ALFAn will love and must read this book!

The plot centers around the last will and testmenent of mega-billionaire inventor James Halliday set in the year 2044. Halliday was “the video-game designer responsible for creating the OASIS, a massively multiplayer online game that had gradually evolved into the globally networked virtual reality most of humanity now used on a daily basis." Halliday has decided to leave all his real life money to an OASIS player and left clues to his vast fortune within OASIS. His well-known eccentric obsession and encyclopedic knowledge of the 1980s have led players within the OASIS to study the 80's pop-culture to extreme detail in hopes of finding the treasure in-game.

I won't say too much more but ...... wow! Give it a read! :)

Glad you like it. For me, a gamer "of a certain age" it was like reading cotton candy. I tore it through it happily.

Well now I need to read this book so I know exactly how creeped out I need to be in response to this statement! ;-D

(On my To Read list... just got to finish Fall of Hyperion and Ender's Game first)
