I am in Christchurch.. my partner and I are well..

just got power +internet back. Water is probably a two days away and sewerage is probably way more. 65 people are confirmed dead, the number of victims will probably reach 400+ at this stage. Hundreds of people are trapped 10 minutes walk from my house.

Now that I know friends and family are fine, I will look to seeing if I can help in anyway in town.

I am here posting because a few of you.. you know who are.. gave a damn enough to ask after my welfare.. I wanted to let you know that we are fine and thank you for your concern. In means alot in times like today.

My neighourhood looks like a warzone at the moment but not as bad as those living further south and east.

Send you good vibes and if you can send aid because alot of people are suffering here.

Thanks for your message Thangorn. I didn't know you were from Christchurch.

My prayers go to all the people in your town.

Great to hear Thangs. Soon as I woke up and saw the news my thoughts turned to you and Rotku. Any word from him? Or does he not live in the earthquake zone?

Rotku is in Wellington IIRC.

It should be far enough to be safe.

Yikes! Knew of only a couple of ALFA NZ people (Rotku and the recently returned Thangorn), and was thinking of that first thing on getting online myself. Glad to hear of T's status report, good luck navigating the area's recovery phase.

I'm all okay here - thanks for the emails and PMs asking. I'm far enough away that we just felt a small shake (nothing unusual for where I live). My sister, who was visiting Christchurch, just managed to fly out a handful of minutes before the quake, so got very lucky there.

For those who remember Deathmage, I just got word from him this morning that him and his family are okay.

Hope things are okay with you down there, Thang. Thoughts are with you guys.

Pretty sure Nick is an Aucklander so he is at the other end of the country, miles away from the devastation. unless of course he was down here for work or something..

This quake has killed many people and left thousands of lives changed irrevocably. If you have seen what has happened and want to do something to help, I suggest either or both of these two appeals, these are organisations that are really helping on the ground here.

donating cash is about the best thing you can do to help down here, the physical damage is widespread and emotional and social effects are even wider.
