Never Forget.

Post by Lusipher »

We remember this day 7 yrs ago the attack on the World Trade Center in New York, NY. I can still remember waking up that morning feeding my daughter and turning on the news to just stand in horror at the images coming from the tv. Not since Pearl Harbor had the US been attacked. It was a moment many of us will remember for the rest of our lives.

To all those who lost their lives either in the air, in the towers, or on the ground fighting the fires and trying to save others, we salute you. We remember your sacrifices and we promise to never ever forget.

God Bless the United States.

As horrific an event as 9/11 was, it is truely remarkable seeing the difference in sentiment when such a catastrophe happens to your own people compared to when it is done to others.

lol, he said seven-eleven!

Anyways, it is indeed a pity 3500 Americans died. That was about a third of the amount of people that gets murdered by other Americans by firearms every year, isn't it?

The horrific politicizing of the attack has reduced the anniversary to a mockery, an act of phony patriotism. It's a date I dread now, knowing all the BS that will be spewed. And the fact that the attack was leveraged politically into a reason to invade Iraq just makes it that much worse, turning what should be a day of honor and remembrance into a day of remorse over a country fooled into acts of aggression and the loss of civil liberties.

Though the Onion was brilliant.
"I looked at the calendar yesterday, and I couldn't believe my eyes—9/11 is almost here!" a rosy-cheeked Cheney said upon returning to the White House Sunday with two giant bags overflowing with gift-wrapped boxes and big red bows. "It's the most wonderful time of the year."
/
Cheney then sighed happily, adding, "I wish every day were 9/11."
/
"No, 9/11 is about the warm feeling you get when you help an elderly woman cross the street and then whisper to her that the terrorists can strike at any moment. 9/11 is about the satisfaction of telling people to do things and then them doing it—not because they want to, but because they are afraid to do otherwise.

That's one way to relativise and trivialize it, thanks a bunch jackass.

A mockery and phony according to you and people who think like you.

You could argue that the attack of pearl harbor was used as leverage to go against germany. Anyway, thanks for revealing how you really think.

I remember exactly where I was. I was working typing CCS/javascript in my computer class in high school. I think it was around 8:-- something in the morning, I don't recall ever looking at the clock but we all heard the announcement over the loudspeaker that there was an accident at the world trade center and that one of the buildings was hit. Kids at that time really were wondering what happened. By second period we had all the information we needed and I saw the second plane hit live on tv. Thats the kind of shit that no kid should have a to see. Ash covered people running for their lives.

Denying that 9/11 was used in a program of fear-mongering is just that, denial. Right, wrong, precedent or not, that's the way it happened.

Was? I think the word is 'is'.

Also, that was not the first time we'd been attacked since Pearl Harbor. That wasn't even the first time the giant fiduciary phallus that were the twin towers had been attacked.

It was horrific, but it was most notable for our reaction as directed by our leadership and media.

btw, for those that aren't yet aware, we've got 7 USN battlegroups in/near the gulf. We should be seeing Shock 'n Awe II between 10/17 and 10/22. 4000 US servicemen (discounting contractors, interpreters, etc) is going to seem tame.

*stares at Fionn.*Don't mind my stare, oh and the silence you just heard was just it's just a image of a competent individual shattering.

Well, if this isn't the most revealing post Dan has ever posted. I don't know what is.

Go back to bed Fionn and don't forget your hair-net.

Oh! Is it ironic that democrats are bringing this thread made with the intent of mourning in political light? Guess "is" IS the right word, I just wouldn't count on Democrats to define it. Politicising 9/11 & making light of it? Check.

Ya DONT say! We're doing a lot more than that, sir. Don't you worry.

Now, if we have enough of that. . .
Does anyone have anything else they would like to share about 9/11, personal account, thoughts, introspection regarding your feelings of 9/11/01?

Yeah, I've stayed out of this mess, because this thread was to mourn the events of that day and the lives lost. You liberal nobs decided to turn this into your conspiracy Bush bashing fest. Whats even worse is hearing from people outside the US speak about 9-11 like it amuses them or that we deserved it. Your all pathetic. I had wanted this thread to remain soley about the tragedy and its turned into a cluster with the back and forth once again. We all know our views and they arent going to change. We just seem to feel the need to argue back and forth. All of it could have stayed out of this thread, though. This was made in good faith and with a heavy heart.

It's a shame some folks cant just let things be for once.

I knew the thread would degenerate into another political thing from the onset...I'm surprised you are surprised PD...it was kind of set up that way. Someone just happened to take the bait, unfortuneately.
