She's lucky she obeyed the guards. How stupid do you have to be to take something that can be easily mistaken for a bomb into an airport? Silly girl.

you forget what stupid children are growing up in America these days. She should have been shot for being so ignorant.

At least Boston's getting lots of practice protecting us from the unimaginable dangers of LEDs.

She was the stupid one?

Heh.

Right, because this totally looks like a bomb.

This was, without question, a stupid police overreaction.

... I really wish that that was satire. Being real it's more sad than funny. That Scott Pare dude is freakin' crazy.

I guess it's good to see that then ends are still justifying the means. Wouldn't life just be boring otherwise?

I disagree; she said she told an airport employee it was artwork? Since when are airport employees trained at bomb-identification?

Seriously, no one is that stupid as to wear wires and a bunch of other electronics into a god damn airport. It'd be like spraypainting a squirt gun jet black and then wearing it in a holster.

I support the police on this one; I'd rather they stop the fakes than let the real ones through on the chance that it could be just "art".

Alternatively, she's smart and knowledgeable enough to know what a bomb looks like (MIT electrical engineering student, remember) and made the assumption that airport staff and security were too.

Though, given that the TSA universally fails to find fake bombs when people test security, perhaps she shouldn't have made that assumption.

This is not a binary choice. There are options between "respond with maximum force, shoot to kill if any sudden movements are made" and "do nothing".

"a total disregard to understand the context of the situation she is in"

Yep.

This self-important dork doesn't realize an AIRPORT isn't a good place to display "ART"? What a dope!

/me applauds security

It totally looks suspicious. It sucks we have to be so sensitive to suspicious appearances but that's the consequences of terrorism. Belt up.

All a bomb needs is some batteries, wiring, explosives and a detonator. Who's to say a bomb can't look like this picture?

The lack of explosives or anything that could possibly be confused with explosives is a pretty decent indication.

My favorite part of the story is when the security people started running for their lives. I'm glad to know that in the unlikely event of another terrorist act at an airport, our defenders will already be long gone out the back door.

Are you guys freakin serious!? It's a circuit board, LEDs, and a battery. You'd have to be incredibly daft to even consider the possibility that that is a bomb. A complete paranoid overreaction. What's even worse is that people are siding with the crazy ass police.

You have to be just stupid tools to think the police overreacted here. They are trying to do their best to stop anything at these airports and some moron walks into a crowded airport with something they arent 100% sure is or isnt a bomb. They do what they have to do to get her or the thing away from her. She was plain stupid for bringing it in the airport and lucky shes not in a pinewood box about now. Some of you college EJemecated kiddies need to wake up and learn what real life is about. You have sat on mommies lap way too long. Its time to grow up, wake up, and realize that the world has changed and its not that nice even here in America anymore.

lol yeah education is for pussies amirite

who needs that darn learnin stuff anyhow, shut up and eat your bible son!

At least if I decide to do something I can stick to it for more than a week. Maybe if the cops had some education they'd know the difference between a couple LEDs and a nine volt battery and a bomb.

The revelation of her sweater ornament being "art" doesn't improve her situation....it only justifies it! Her "art" sucks and she deserves to be tasered for displaying it in an airport! Again, she's a self-important dolt! :P
