Love 101

Post by Charlie »

So I've gotten through my first romantic encounter in SL. No I didn't cyber, and yes she was nice looking, and we are still on good terms.

I've learned that the only way to really learn how to date is by trial and error, and not to become too attached at first, taking things slowly and adding layer-on-layer till things become more solid. Next time, I'm going to try to meet someone LOCALLY instead of half a continent away. At least I could take her out to lunch.

If I meet someone in SL again, I think I'm going to go very very slowly and get to know them first. All and all, good experience to apply to realworld SKILL(Dating/Seduction) and next time I won't need naughty poseballs in the back of my car.

With Sauce,
Charlie

p.s. How many lady visitors like a guy to become emotionally involved right away, and to let the emotional goo settle in over time?
p.p.s. Make sure she isn't a stripper who has a RL boyfriend!!!

I always preferred Hallmark stores myself. Reading cards gives you an excuse to be standing next to someone, and if you find a good one you can snicker out loud, look embarassed, and then show it to her. Great ice breaker. ;)

Also works at bookstores and magazine stands, the card section of a grocery store, etc. Though in all honesty all my early girlfriends I met at dance clubs or parties, and the later ones I met online or through friends / coworkers. SL is the *last* place I'd look. :P

Well, as surprising as it is, I'm pretty popular with girls at my school. (any of you on myspace could comment my page and ask if such is true, if you wanted). Now, I know HS sucks for relationships in most cases, but I'm happy being the single guy with a bunch of girls who I hang out with as friends, for right now. Now, I have 3-4 girls I think would date me if I asked, but they all have BFs right now. I'll bide my time and see how things go. If all goes well, I will have a girlfriend again soon.

Guys can't be friends with girls without wanting to sleep with them.

Incidentally, I have met a number of women on the internets.

And then one woman from San Francisco declared she was flying over to New Zealand to meet me. That freaked me out a bit. And then 6 months after coming here she declared she was moving to New Zealand. That freaked me out even more. That she moved into a house around the corner from me didn't help...

You're point?? Just because I do doesn't mean that I have/will. Its generally an understood part of the whole guy/girl friendship dynamic. My best friend is not surprisingly the girl I've liked since the day I met her in Freshman year.

Now you're just deluding yourself! Either you're only friends with them to show people how new age and sensitive you are, or you're friends with them to get closer to a girl you do want to have sex with. Either way, you're only pretending to be their friend. Either that or you're not picky about who you want to have sex with.

OK, as long as you're happy to accept that you're the creepy guy who hangs out with the girls but never makes an attempt at them...

People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

Oh, I'll make attempts to go out with them. I already do. They still hang out with me. Hell, I get invited to stuff I wouldn't go to normally (dance recitals, mostly) unless forced to. Of course, for the few girls I really have feelings for, I would drop all my plans to be there for them.

Though, I sometimes like I get stuck in the "friend zone" entirely too easily.
