He's already done all the damage he could do. It will make him much more available to testify, however. :D

Yeah thats one thing I dont understand, Mulu. Why would he quit now since he wont have executive immunity status anymore. They can tear into him now if im not mistaken?

He has declared he's still protected by executive privilege, despite not working in the executive branch and executive privilege not actually existing.

Just like an attorney is bound by attorney-client privilege long after you cease to be his client, Rove retains whatever privileges and immunities he had while doing all the nefarious things he did, and is still bound to maintain secret any classified information he knew.

The real interesting part about Rove is how much he mixed political campaigning with policy, as campaigning activities are not privileged, thus providing a potential waiver of privilege. He's only going to be relevant until the next presidential election, though, so all he has to do is foot drag until then and he'll escape any accountability.

I don't think I like the idea of this whole state secret executive immunity things. Surely they are open to potential massive abuse. Is there any checks in place to make sure what they define as security secrets really would be a security risk if the information got out, rather than just politically damaging to the executive?

Why would he quit now
To help one or more of the '08 candidates? To Swift-boat Hillary?

Swift Boat Veterans for the Removal of National Blowhards... I can see it now. I think I'll go sign up right away. If Hillary wins, I'm moving to Canada.

But Canada is fill of left-winged, Liberal, Humanistic, Atheists!

In regards to that though, does anyone know of a good (read: neutral) website which could give a summary of the different candidates and how their current standing is looking for the '08 elections? All I know is that the Democrats have a black and a woman running and the Republicans are all old white males, with one looking vaguely like the governor of California (yes, I'm simplifying things a bit to make a point...).

Well, for fair-and-balanced candidate review, I know of no such place. Maybe one of our link gods could come up with a website.

That's what all the liberals said if Bush got elected for a second term. I wonder how many liberals did move countries in the end. Damned liberals are all talk and no action if you ask me! I think you should show them up and move to Canada if Hillary becomes the next president!
