Locks of Love

Something different on the as-usual, hate-filled OT forums.

My wife and I are thinking about donating hair to Locks of Love. She has the prerequisite 10 inches already. I'll need to grow mine another 3 months or so to have 10 inches to donate and still be left with shoulder length hair (I can't stand not being a hippy). Has anyone else ever donated? Anyone else interested in donating to a good cause?

I have done this before... I actually grew my hair out to do this. Many are misinformed about hair donation... some think you have to have pure natural hair, never been dyed.. that isnt true.... well here is the website it gives you all the guidelines.. where to send.

My friend does this; he has naturally curly hair, which he grows out and then has it cut for little girls with cancer.

My cousins did this; growing up they had hair down past their butts. Once into their 20s, they finally cut a foot and a half off or so - now they just have hair down to the middle of their backs. Anyway, go for it.

It's a good thing about that. My wife and I have been dating/married for 8 years now and I still don't know her natural hair color. :P :D

It's mousey brown. It's always mousey brown. I've yet to meet a woman who always dyes her hair whose natural hair colour is not "mousey brown".

As someone who has done the high does chemo thing, I see lots of folks, particularly kids, who the hair loss hits hard.

Thanks to everyone who is participating. *HUGS*

I had a friend in highschool who did this. Last I'd seen her before she had hair almost to the small of her back. Next I saw her it was cropped as short as mine. It's a great cause and one that people don't ever really think about.

While we're on the topic, here's another great cancer support cause: http://www.gildasclub.org/

My mom's an oncologist and volunteers there all the time. It's the first place she sends new patients.
