of course we should have drow pcs.

just like we should allow pcs to be aasimar, tiefling, genasi, brownies, half-ogres, vampires, dopplegangers, weremonkeys etc - it will all contribute to a vibrant multi-cultural mix that can only be good for our community.

i mean, some folk will tell you that if we allowed these races to be playeable then they would just be ruined by people who cant play them right. but, lets look at drow for example - they have some stringent rp requirements and everyone handles them perfectly.

these folk might also tell you that if we allowed these races then alfa would be flooded with planetouched mutants, that it would turn into a bizarre carnival of crazy races in innappropriate settings. again, the drow show us how this may not be the case. i dont think i've ever seen a drow out of place in alfa, or trying to fit in some social situation where they don't belong. that sort of thign just doesnt happen.

lastly, the naysayers will doubtless argue that if we allowed these races, then eventually those who play them would all start complaining and moaning about how ECL isnt fair, or that they dont have anywhere to play and that it isnt right that guards should try and kill them when they see the tiefling's hooves or the weremonkey's fearsome tale. this argument is completely groundless - drow pcs suffer from ecl and kos scripts/policies, do they ever complain about the trouble it causes them? not a bit.

so, yes we should allow a lot more playable races for the reasons stated above, just as we allow drow. if we don't, then we should really just ban drow pcs too, in all fairness.
