At least it looks like an all-european finale. So much for the hype floated in the 8-phase about south american teams.

My dibs are still on Spain to take the cup. And while I'm obviously rooting for Germany, an NL win would also satisfy me since I appreciate sweet, sweet irony.

you're not out of the woods yet... spain still can go all the way, and will, according to the octopus... i however would bet on germans.

I wouldn't. Without Müller, and with Lahm's premature tossing of the captain-question (which indicates he also doesn't think we are going to beat spain), the team is more likely to implode tonight than give the stunning performance needed to best Spain, the team that's arguably been, and is, consistently on top of its game with a tight, ball-control oriented style.

Still, it was a good run, and so far a good cup to watch... the NL : GER "droom finale" seems a little too good to become true ;).

As long as the nazis fail, I will be content.

not sure.. the two poles up front are very impressive. the team is very young (they look like high school kids when shown next to other players...) which could derail them, but i'd take that bet.. and i'm not a german...

And I shall claim victory if either Germany or Seagermany take the cup.

Of course I hope you're right, but I doubt it.

On top of that, I dreamt tonight that we'd lose 1:3 to Spain... combine that with the octopus, and I think there's a strong psychic vibe ;).

The octopus called it.

I would have preferred a Germany v Netherlands final though. I suspect Spain will win to keep a semblance of the Europe/Sth America pattern, with Spain representing the South Americans.

Was a deserved loss, and imho visible in the first half. Pure luck it took the spaniards so long to sink it.

Hm, same here, both on the preference and the prediction. Of course, I'm rooting for Seagermany anyway ;).

The octopus only gets quizzed when Germany plays, since he's situated in one of our sea life centres :).

He's even got an english wikipedia entry:

it seems holland will win.

actually all people here say "we" if they mean the team.
So we are winning and we will do this etc..
And if we loose, it suddenly changes to : "they"

Is this observered somewhere else?

If I would observe such behaviour, how could I admit it? After all, I'm The Pope and Lena. 8)
