Honestly, I don't know present the situation either - it's been a while since I read anything about it. Still, it's understandable why there would be reluctance and sluggishness in any changes - it's an area in which you'd like to avoid making rash modifications to the procedure. But if I am right, why should some people be excluded from this, just because their sexual preferences are different from the norm?paazin wrote:eh? state bigotry? the only thing that isn't legal is marrying someone of the same gender. as far as adoption goes, if I recall correctly, it's often done case-by-case, presidency given to traditional married couples.Jeppan wrote: There are certain aspects of the civil righs that are not granted to transgender people (like the right to adopt, marriage and so on I think. I will let Mik fill in the details on which those rights are that are being denied to people because of their sexuality.) I am not talking about common discrimination, I am just asking on what motives one can support this state-biggotry.
Just to be clear here, since you all know I am a big US-hater (), it is not an attack on the US. I am sure this exist in many other countries. Biggotry is an international movement (often connected with religious belief sadly).
afraid I don't see the state-sponsored bigotry. at least, I don't consider the two previous cases to fall into the description of 'bigotry'
About adoption, again, I am not sure how it is in the US, but here in Sweden we just recently passed a law allowing anyone to adopt, after the normal scrutiny. Can homosexuals or transgender adopt in the US? If not why exclude them? There is no scientic ground for homosexuals being worse parents, studies I have seen (not any links though...was a few years back) prove quite the opposite since the decision of adopting is more thought through than the average pregnancy.
If my above reasoning is true, it sure is state-sponsored biggotry.
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

Yes, the biased nature of the article completely destroys the fact that it happaned. You're a vile Republican who hates muhammad's raping nature. You should be tolerant of other people mxlm. I can't believe how blind you are to the main point of the article. Maybe you only see what you want to see. I've notice this to be true of everything you vile republicans spout. Anyone care to find the exact news article? I can't seem to find it, only pictures of it.mxlm wrote:Lawlololololololol!!!!!!!!!!111111elevenandoneHeeelios' link wrote:The number of rapes committed by Muslim immigrants in Western nations are so extremely high that it is difficult to view them only as random acts of individuals. Here are some questions that need answering from that article.
Did Muhammed rape women?
Is rape allowed in the Koran by certain extreamist groups?
Does Sweden have laws against hate speach?
Why would a blog post such vile biased lies?
I rarely rely upon blogs because they could potentially contain information that is biased like that. However, mxlm, I must have struck a cord with you considering how you elongated my name. It must be that republican anger building up. I suggest you release it upon me less others feel your nerdy wrath.
Oh, also, does anyone know where I could get an online english version of the Quran/Koran? I've already read the bible, I figure I might as well read that too.
I don't care. It's just proving a point that even Sweden is lame. Not that we need proof, it's common knowledge.paazin wrote:Yeah, but who cares? Try CNN for Bullshit. K, thx.Fox News is so full of bullshit
As for Mik and all the nonsense she and I give each other. I actually like Mik a great deal. Not just for the work she does here, but as a person. I actually respect her a lot for sticking up for what she believes in even if I dont agree with her. I think someone that goes and does what she did to her body has some screws loose, but its her choice to make. As for everything other than our issues about politics, sexual orientation, etc...we would actually probably get along if we met. Im actually a lot different than I am here on the boards and its only when I get fired up about something I truly believe in.
This thread would have been just fine, Mik, if we wouldnt have to have gotten back on this arguement again. It seems no matter what each of us say we go back to same old issues and start in again. Personally, I would prefer Off-topic to just drop all sexual orientation, political, and such issues. It just gets heated and we are all here to actually play a game. Not go at each others throats.
I've calmed down since the other day so have fun with the rest of whatever this thread turns into.

I have seen this blog twice before. Once before here, I don´t remember who used though and once by Sverigedemokraterna (Rightwing extremist party), as basis for why immigrants should be thrown out of the country. The obvious bias of the article makes me wary of believing the "facts" posted. Sverigedemokraterna has for the last decade tried to present facts that point to evilness of immigration but so far most of it has been pure bullshit. That said, I do not know well enough the actual statistics to refute the blog in detail.
As for the questions:
1. Probably something unknown but by todays standards most likely. That would probably be true for most rulers of the time. Consentual sex was not a high priority.
2. No but some leaders have probably interpreted the Koran enough times for it to be allowed. Much like any fanatic interpreting their holy document for any purpose.
3. Yes but it is a fine line between this and freedom of speech.
4. As noted before, cause the author has connections to the right-wing extremist movement in Sweden he has an agenda to try and control the immigration discourse.

Of course, things like this should not be changed rapidly but if there was a political acceptance, in the US and many other countries, it would change. I don´t think transgender or homosexual people would mind taking it slow as long as things were moving in the right direction. This does not seem to be the case right now in the US (and probably any other religious rightwing country).paazin wrote: Honestly, I don't know present the situation either - it's been a while since I read anything about it. Treating some people more equal than others according to the law is state biggotry and discrimination.
Well, I get often the opposite impression. Often certain positions or actions of these advocacy groups do more to hurt their cause then help.Jeppan wrote:Of course, things like this should not be changed rapidly but if there was a political acceptance, in the US and many other countries, it would change.
