Even though I am far from right-wing and prudish, I'd rather be one of those people, than a [moderated].

Psh. If I was abusing a particular member I would have said " Hey <insert>, you're a <insert what's being moderated>".

Whatever. *throws hand in the air, like ya' just don't care*

Killy, you're a spacemonkie from Jupiter without a brain except the one in your head!!!

((And that's a major insult, cause spacemonkies have 5 brains!))

This thread is not living up to its title. Can't we have some Yulia Timoshenko instead?

Or Angela Merkel?

I personally think Palin has redefined "hot" to a new all-time low. Big-boned as a moose with a snoz to go with it. :P

What Troopergate says about Palin
In a nutshell, that she's a disaster.

How did you reach that conclusion? I'm saying that she's far from stupid, which is how elitist Democrats like to characterize their opponents.

Only when they're stupid. It's not our fault Republican politicians tend to be....

I love how you embrace the term elitist as a gamer but disparage it in RL. :D

Freaking powergaming munchkin Republicans! Always trying to cheat and use exploits! Yes I am proud to be an elitist! They can't roleplay/govern worth spit! :P

I just used it to qualify my statement so I wasn't generalizing too broadly. Not all Democrats are elitists. *shrug*

Thats another interesitng point.

When considering people for prossibly the most important job in the world, when did it become an insult to be an elitist?

A job that important? You bet we need somebody Elite.

For example, somebody that studied (and lectured in) Constitutional Law, rather than somebody whose primary selling point (judging only by the number of times they themselves remind us of the fact) is that they were a POW.

Indeed, I do think that for such an office, you may actually want an extraordinary, elite person. Not a special person. *cough*

someone already brought that up
Sam Harris, Sep 20 2008 wrote:The prospects of a Palin administration are far more frightening, in fact, than those of a Palin Institute for Pediatric Neurosurgery. Ask yourself: how has "elitism" become a bad word in American politics? There is simply no other walk of life in which extraordinary talent and rigorous training are denigrated. We want elite pilots to fly our planes, elite troops to undertake our most critical missions, elite athletes to represent us in competition and elite scientists to devote the most productive years of their lives to curing our diseases. And yet, when it comes time to vest people with even greater responsibilities, we consider it a virtue to shun any and all standards of excellence. When it comes to choosing the people whose thoughts and actions will decide the fates of millions, then we suddenly want someone just like us, someone fit to have a beer with, someone down-to-earth—in fact, almost anyone, provided that he or she doesn't seem too intelligent or well educated.
