McCain has voted in support of Bush's policies. So what? As I said republicans know how McCain is and hes not well liked by the republican party because hes been known to break ranks and vote with the Dems. You should be happy about that. He isnt my first choice for president, but I'll back him because I know Obama living here in IL and that man doesnt have the experience to run this country.

And Voressa.... Obama...1 time senator. Palin One time Governor. Not much difference except Palin actually has ran a state. Obama just had lunch a lot, put present down on his voting card, and enjoyed the benefits of being a senator with his plush travel expenses. His ties to left wing radicals such as his pastor and his former teacher at the university of IL scares me quite a bit. The fact hes had ties to Chicago mafia also does. Hes also the protegee' of one of the most corrupt senators the state of IL has in Emil Jones. His shady past and lack of experience just doesnt make him the reformer or agent of change he says he is. Its a bunch of bunk.

Why don't you move to Iraq or Russia? You seem to be then one who enjoy totalitarian governments with "loose" interpretations of human rights.

Asked whether the United States would have to go to war with Russia if it invaded Georgia, and the country was part of NATO, Palin said: "Perhaps so."

Yeah, NickD, thats what an alliance is for. You join it to actually help each other out. We are part of NATO which means we are honor bound to help unless its just some wacked out thing. We, unlike other countries, try and help those who cant help themselves.

Call me a warmonger, but I have to say that history's proven that appeasement towards dictatorial behaviour is not gonna work. Russia is testing its limits, so far it must conclude that we are unwilling to effectively confront it over anything we do not consider of immediate and direct importance to our own vital interests. Hence, Russia may just continue the behaviour, partly to consolidate its power, partly to restore its self-esteem after many perceived slights by the west.

If an ally is attacked, you defend him, it's as simple as that. That does not make you the warmonger if your alliance was well-known. It does make you look ridiculous though if the other side calls your bluff, that, in fact, you didn't ever intend to honour your committment. I think Russia did call us bluffing.

Well they aren't part of NATO yet.

The more important part of the interview is the fact that she couldn't describe Bush's pre-emption policy. Not that anyone cares if she has a brain or not.

Course not, though you guys cosied up to them enough to make Sakashvili think so, leading to his ham-handed gaffe that Russia mercilessly exploited in the first place.

We did talk about the hypothetical:
Asked whether the United States would have to go to war with Russia if it invaded Georgia, and the country was part of NATO, Palin said: "Perhaps so."
Anyway, carry on with american politics.

I think it is important to remember that Georgia was part of U.S.S.R. before they, along with many other regions, opted to nationalize themselves. The internal politics of all these events is not well known by the vast majority of Americans. I think it's important for people to research this before discussing the justifications of war.

It's also important to remember that Georgia was denied entry into NATO and, for whatever reason, their application is being reexamined.
