Ive made one of about every class to try em out. Im digging the blademaster and wizard so far. The Venomancer is kinda meh although she is the best solo class. I played a cleric and they werent too bad. I havent tried an archer since I view it more of a pvp class.

what the crap? the game doesnt look like that. leave the joking to the real stuff, s'not like there is a lack of material here.

Still pretty low-level, so not sure if this game is worthwhile yet.

e: Here are some more with max settings, don't want to spam the thread with this shit. Additionally, this is one of those games where all female armor looks ridiculous.

Elcadaver that isnt PW. Dunno what game that is.

I would love to see more ALFans playing. Its really not bad. On graphics alone it puts a lot of big name companies games to shame. The gameplay itself isnt too bad. Its your basic MMO faire, but its pretty solid for a free to play game.

Right now you can still get beta keys. You should give it a whirl and see what you think. Its been a lot of fun. Id just like to play with some folks from here. Tried to get Kate to take a look, but she will say "ill look in a few" and that turns into never.

Its really a decent game. Open beta is going to start soon too with pve servers opening up and every character you make in open beta you keep when you go live. Levels, gear, and all.

I'd honestly wait on recommending this to anyone until you reach higher level.

Apparently the grind kicks in at 25, but I'll reserve judgment on whether this is garbage or not until I find out more.

Playing PWI lately and its been pretty fun. Im playing a wizard. If anyone from ALFA wants to try it out its in open beta. All you gotta do is sign up and download the client. Pretty decent game for Free to play. You can find me on Heavens Tear server as Danubus. My guild is one of the biggest/best on the server. Pretty soon our guild should be taking over territory in game with the Territory Wars.

I'm just going to be honest.. there is grinding in City of Heroes/Villains but only if YOU want to. Otherwise you can take your dandy arse time getting your levels and enjoying the game.

People go out of their way to have specific toon builds and powersets that pwn but I really don't follow any of that. You can build almost anything and it works with the game. Some builds involve a lil' more team-based strategy, some you can solo your way...

That being said, the only negative outlook I have on MMO's is when you need a 40-80 person raid on something that may or not spawn within a 24 hour+ period of time, and you'll be lucky even then if some other massive guild comes along and steals your kill...

That just doesn't happen in CoH/V. :)

You know, Killthorne, if I could gather enough people to actual do RP in CoH and CoV, I'd actually play with you guys, start from level one and very slowly move ahead.

We'd have to have fully developed Superhero personalities for our characters though. Have actual superhero one liners and shit.

That would be fun.

A grind is a grind. It does not matter how long you do it, it's still a grind. Other than that, I have no comment on the game since I have not played it. Any MMO is a grind though, as that's the basis of the game.

Well thankfully virtually all MMO developers have realised that is a fuckin stupid thing to do and have moved right away from it.

Apart from the EQ teams. They still love their world spawn raid bosses.

That depends, surely, on whether there is anything fun to do *other* than gain levels?

I rather enjoyed simply exploring the city when I was playing the euro Beta, something that the game positively rewarded with non-exp related badges.

Champions Online is going to make City of Heroes looks silly.

Same team who created CoH/CoV but their using the Heroes roleplaying system for their game. Im actually playing a pnp campaign now using the system. Lots of custom stuff you can add.

Heroes is already silly. ;P That's what's great about it f00! By the looks of Champions, alot is being ripped from the City of Heroes game itself, and well, we'll see how long it takes to come around... And besides, DC's making one too I believe. We'll see.

Oh and Mags, what I meant was if you wanna make the "perfect build" and farm certain missions over and over and over, you can do it. People brag about how many level 50's they have, how short of time it took, etc.. That's "grinding" to me, considering it took me two years to get to 50 and I don't follow any powerset building guides nor programs, farming the crap outta the game. ;P

Well there's the arenas, PvP zones, sitting around shootin' the shizzle, wandering around aimlessly, costume creation, exploration badge hunting..... it's surely not ALFA by any means ( lord knows this place is in a world all it's own  ). But I look at it this way, even though scads of people are loathe to admit it, leveling means something here too. " Oh but I just like to roleplay!" Well, so do I ( granted I haven't had much time as of this summer and of late). But there are such a thing as levels in ALFA. If there weren't, we'd abolish levels altogether, and sit around playing Sims:Let's Sit Around and Talk About Dungeons and Dragons, Ho Ho.
