"The democrats like Mulu apparently knew all along and would find good reasons why she was guilty even if the panel came to a different conclusion"
Actually I knew all along because I know the facts of the case and I know the law of abuse of authority. It's a real 1+1=2 type of case. Sort of like if she had run a red light and they caught her on video doing it. No partisanship required.
The real question is, now that the investigation has found she violated the law, what, if anything, is the Republican controlled Alaska State Legislature going to do about it? I suspect nothing, and *that* is a partisan answer, though probably also true.
If you haven't been following the story, known as Troopergate, here is an executive summary. Palin's sister, Molly, was involved in a bitter divorce and child custody fight with her former husband, state trooper Mike Wooten. Palin, who supports family values, wanted to help her sister in the custody battle by causing her ex brother-in-law to be unemployed. So she asked the state commissioner of public safety, Walt Monegan, to fire Wooten. Monegan refused. Wooten had been involved in some misconduct earlier, but Monegan told Palin that Wooten had been disciplined for it already and the case was closed. Monegan further told Palin to get off Wooten's case because that might be seen as an ethics violation. Palin took his advice and assigned her husband, Todd Palin, the job of getting state employees to work on getting Wooten fired. One of the attempts was a telephone call that was (lawfully) recorded and later released. Branchflower found over a dozen specific incidents where state employees took action to try to get Wooten fired. Ultimately, Palin got frustrated with the process and fired Monegan. This firing was what started the investigation.
Palin denies all wrongdoing and says the report is politically motivated. However, the investigation was started before Palin was chosen to be the vice-presidential nominee, the Republicans control the state legislature, and the report was released yesterday by a unanimous vote of the bipartisan Joint Legislative Council, which had oversight on the investigation. The investigator, Steve Branchflower, is a retired prosecutor with a reputation for integrity. None of these facts suggest a political hatchet job. In fact, the president of the Alaska state senate, Lyda Green, a Republican from Palin's home town of Wasilla, said: "The problem with power is that people pay attention to it. And it's very easy to get beside yourself and use it in the wrong way. And we do have to leave personal business at home."
Wait. Is this the investigation that was going to deliver an "October surprise"? Well Surprise!
When leading Democrats involved in the process predefine the outcome in advance of an investigation, it becomes hard to believe in the objectivity of the report and its conclusions.
Don't get me wrong, I am thinking about voting republican, crossing my fingers and hoping they win, just to see how far down this country can go. I lurves all of this time for a change nonsense I am hearing from them. If it weren't election year, a change wouldn't be needed, right?

So the best you can do Cipher is the CAPS LOCK cognoscenti of the blogosphere? Legitimize your news sources or live in ignorance I guess. As a rule of thumb, any website that refers to legitimate news as "the MSM" is itself not a legitimate news source.
The armageddon vote, really Dan?
Well, with an absence of discussion, time for cartoons.
And Nick was worried about the particle accelerator.

Oh it's definitely not a legitimate news source, but everything there was referenced. I checked. I even read through the New Party and DSA websites. Fascinating read. It was syndicated on Yahoo, which is how I got to it.
Why did I post it? Well because you got your undies in such a bunch over Todd Palin's membership to the Alaska Independence Party and because it underscores what I've been saying about Obama, that he's at the far left spectrum of American politics. If that's the kind of policy you advocate, he's DEFINITELY your man. If not, don't believe his campaign rhetoric. He's not going to govern as a centrist, certainly not while we have a Democratic Congress.

No I didn't. I only mentioned it when someone tried to deny it, but I don't terribly care about her separatist flirtations. Her incompetence, her abuse of authority (that was a bipartisan finding btw, with unanimous support) and her creationist and book banning desires, are far more important. She's a brain-dead religious zealot with no concept of proper governance and a worldview as narrow as a toothpick, and about has meaningful.
McCain lessened himself greatly by choosing her. Though the media and stand-up comedians love him for it.... SNL's ratings in particular have gone through the roof.
Q: Are you offended by the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?
A: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I'll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.
