2000 years ago when communities were agrarian in nature and the infant mortality rate was at 50%, I can see why the leaders would want to prohibit homosexuality - they needed people to have kids. Its the same reason why some religions have rules against birth control. But times have changed people - we don't have a 50% infant mortality rate nor do we have an agrarian based society. We don't need everyone to procreate anymore. Indeed, if the world has a population problem that problem is that we have too many people, not too few.

The one thing that has not changed is the nature of human beings - and just like 2000 years ago and 2000 years before that, a percentage of the population is going to grow up attracted to the same sex. When we needed lots and lots of kids to ensure survival, perhaps it was a problem. Today, its not - the problem now is the bigotry that was developed 2000 years ago.

And Dan - you're the one telling yourself stories to sleep at night, not me. I don't believe in some all powerful, super-judgmental invisible friend.

Sorry. It is normal for a varying percentage of any population to be gay, wether animal or human. It's unfortunate that it is mainly religion that has problems with it. It's here, get used to it.

.. or do you think that marriage should only be between a man and woman so they can have children and raise them?

Oh this is just my view on the subject. If it comes up on the ballet i will vote against gay marriages. But that is as far as i will go on the subject. I wont protest nor will i "get on my soap box" and try to convince others to vote as i do. If it gets voted in i will just shrug my shoulders and go on. After all it is not that important of a subject to me.
Now if you try to ban my guns then i will be up "on my soap box" and yelling at the top of my lungs.

Isn't it great?!? With this thread we can all see how important Off-Topic is for this community. We all get these great opportunities to spend a little quality time learning all about the various reasons why we should hate each other. Hell, without Off-Topic, how would this community survive?!?

Ladies and gentlemen, bigots and hypocrits, we really don't need to know this crap about each other in order to have a good time ingame. In fact, this section of ALFA is very likely putting a huge dent in this community's ability to work alongside each other. Then again, what do i know, right?

Well some of us are mature enough not to be bothered by someone else's opinion or choices in life. I actually like the off topic for bringing me "sample views" of my country and the world in general.
Sometimes i just learn a bit from someone else's life experiences.
Besides it gives me something to do during commercials. :)

If its a purely religious thing, isn't divorce without the permission of the pope far more of a sin than a pair of people of the same sex who happen to love each other very much getting married?

Clearly divorcees should not be allowed the same human rights as the rest of us.
