I find it amusing that if your parents both straight, alive, and still married, that you earn 3 points for being privileged, which falls into the same category as if you spend spring breaks abroad, travel internationally, and have frequent flier miles.

Apparently having parents that are alive, straight, and still married is a luxury.

33. Until now, I actually FELT like I was pretty privileged. Fortunately, I have now been properly informed how shitty my life is and how angry I need to be about it ... ;)

If you wanna impress a chick, do the helicopter... share?

FWIW, you scored higher than my 31?

In any case, I'm pretty sure we both know how to handle weapons, and I think there's a helicopter or two in here that we could fire RPGs at.

I only scored 47 in the end of the thing. But then I have lived and worked in countries where I was the minority.

Ultimately though... none of you folks who took the test are going hungry or lack for shelter I suspect, so really...

You're doing better than most of the world as you tap away on your keyboard.

Trick of course is that those questions are all like "I have never gone to bed hungry." / "I have never skipped meals to save money." and I've totally done those things. I don't any more, mind, but it's usually safe to assume that folk aren't in very different circumstances now regardless of how they answer that, on account that people will use their advantages to ensure that they continue to have advantages in the future (and a charming slurry of cognitive biases wherein folk who have said advantages are more likely to believe that they have acquired their current position fairly). Hence those "check your privilege" rants.

Also, y'know, people can totally get away with firing people for being gay in most states over here in the U.S., and still can only get married in a few. So, y'know, harder to keep fed and sheltered in such a context, and bird flipped in your general direction. :P

NEJM just came out in favor of same-sex marriage as a public health issue
