The popularity of your news show does not have a direct correlation to how good your news show is.

We as a species seem to have lost all track of what is good and what is not at first i thought it was replaced by what sells and what is popular which is bad enough but i think its actualy worse that that, we just dont know any more. Ive never liked ethics but good god if this planet isnt in need of some revoultionary ideas in that field.

Im not a fan of fox news thats for sure but im not a fan of cnn either i watch their cspan style live web stuff but i dont want to hear them open their mouths.

We no longer discuss the fundamental principles of freedom/law, or right & wrong. Why? Because we perhaps believe we progressed to a point to say we already know? Because phisophers in the past have discussed this to death? Maybe the vast majority of us are pre-occupied. We think we know. Each and every day we see a degredation of morality in our society. - Be it how we view the loss of life & its value or allow the fed to bail out corp greed. Democracies do not last forever and perhaps in thousand year time people can say to America; "It was a grand experiment & it was nice while it lasted." Slowly but surely 4chan is what we're all progressing toward.

all of you
Problem with that, is politics is not a single issue. Each post made focused on different issues. That some decide to bleed them into each other after 10+ pages is irrelevant, because the community generally tunes out threads that long anyway.

Kest, besides your request to post all politics into one thread, what other topics would you prefer to see in off topic?

Cartographic version of electoral map (by electoral number) which shows just how miniscule most red states really are. ;)

Betting houses and polls both have Obama winning the election. All he has to do is maintain his stride now. Having won the first debate on foreign policy, the next two debates should be an even stronger showing for him. If House Republicans manage to cause the economy to totally collapse, maybe the Republican party will finally just fold and spin off some new parties.

Except there are lots of Republican voters in blue states and lots of Democratic voters in red states.

Only, the first half of the debate ended up being on the current economic crisis. Whatever victory he may have had, it wasn't on foreign policy.

I would be happy to see the fragmentation of the Republican party and ultimately the two party system. The "big tent" political philosophy is an abysmal failure IMO.

More like the first quarter, but still it was the debate that McCain was supposed to win.

I'm technically agnostic on number of parties, though Italy seems nuts to me.

People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

Would you go so far as to support proportional representation in the House? It'd break the big tent for sure.

Proportional representation is pretty decent. Over here we have it, along with a 5%-hurdle, i.e. anything below doesn't get seats. As a result, we have basically 5 electable parties, which differ quite a good deal in their programs. We do have more, but those only manage to secure seats from time to time on a "protest vote".
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

The problem with it in the US is that if you chop up all the interests fine enough, the largest remaining monolithic block is the Fundamentalists....

You must burn a lot of books but for some reason it doesn't seem to be helping you.

It was either that or a stream of near profanity about how your completely wrong and he is right, you should consider yourself lucky to get something so courteous ;)

As an alternative to the current electoral system? I think that would definitely got more voices into government, so yes, absolutely.
