WW has told me he is leaving the community and desires a perma-ban be insitituted against him. I denied his request - if he wishes to leave the community, he is free to do so. We will even terminate his membership if he so desires, but, we do not perma-ban people upon request. WW's response was to ask if I wanted him to create a reason. Naturally, my answer is no, I do not want him to create a reason. However, I am not his keeper either - nor is ALFA. If he wants to go, he is free to - but its his responsibility to stay away, not ours to perma-ban him. I and ALFA are not WW's conscience or willpower - his actions are his own. His implied threat to create a situation that results in his perma-ban is a childish one - anyone can leave the community and anyone can stay away. There is no reason and no call to demand a perma-ban nor to create a situation that results in one.

I am severely disappointed in WW's behavior. I am shocked that someone of his intelligence and age would act in such a fashion and try, repeatedly, to shift responsibility for his membership and role in ALFA from himself, where it belongs, to others, where it does not belong.

Each of us is responsible for our own actions and our own lives.

It is not my desire to see WW leave the community, but neither I nor ALFA will be bullied nor will I succumb to tantrums. I do not tolerate it in my son, I will not tolerate it here. I ask WW to please desist from this course of action. Leave, or stay, but either way, please refrain from this type of destructive demonstrating.

What I am curious in is whether his allegations are true that zicada editted some of his post or outright deleted them, and asked him to stop partaking in "contentious" debates, and if so, what circumstances led to that. It's mostly curiousity, really.

From what's presented in this thread I don't see too much factual information on which to judge what may have prompted whitey's reaction, and so the jury's out for me. What I do know is that whitey is an intelligent person that did add quite a bit of ideas and work, even though I believe the kind of communication and medium of an internet community such as this is not really an environment he can act comfortably in.

I cannot comment on what was or was not deleted - I simply do not know what was or was not deleted. For the truth of WW's accusations about post deletion, you have to turn elsewhere for answers I am afraid.

EDIT: In accord with WW's wishes I have terminated his membership. He is not banned.

Screenshots are easy to take. Cut and paste text to a word doc and show us with both. I don't know what is going on either, but without evidence, how can we see if anything has been altered or deleted?

Indeed, that is rather the point. I was not presented with any evidence of post deletion, nor am I the right person to turn to about forum matters anyway. That is the Infra Admin's territory, and if WW felt he could not turn to the Infra Admin, then his next step would be the Lead Admin.

For my part, I simply received WW's request to be perma-banned, which I denied, then I received his request to have his membership terminated, which I did.

In fairness, proving that a post you made has been deleted via a screenshot is rather difficult, after the deletion - unless you habitually screenshot every post you make.

I suppose you could just make exactly the same post, after it had been deleted, and screen shot the second one just in case, but if I got to the point where I thought that was necessary, I too would probably stop coming to the forums.

(probably wouldn't stop playing, though)
