nope. we were talking about immigration and other things and Mik came in with the whole my group is being repressed BS. Then, things went awol from there

Whether or not that is true, Australia is still a very racist country.

I once worked for a black south african man who told me that the most racist country he had ever been to (and he had lived around the world) was Australia. Queensland in particular. One of the nicest guys I have ever met was a Queenslander, so I was quite suprised when I heard his thoughts on how aborigines are sub-human. I think it's bred into you lot so much that Australians don't even realise just how racist they are...

EDIT: Just looked it up. It was 4 gang rapes in a month. Which is a dreadful and disgraceful thing. However, they were committed by a single gang of youths, not by "lebs". Not all Lebanese people were responsible for the actions of those deranged idiots, but the true blue Aussies acted as if they were and Alan Jones fuelled that fire that lead to the riots.

Actually Dan, you are the one who took us AWOL when you took the conversation about the bridge and found a way to insult people with a different point of view than yours - what "liberals" have to do with the bridge, I don't know, but this is what you wrote in about the 5th post of the thread that brought me into it:
