Then again I suppose she could have been hiking hard and starving herself in hopes her Down's Syndrome baby would miscarry
Only you could actually consider something so offensive.
Lots of women try to terminate pregnancies in various ways. Remember coathangers? Oh, of course you don't, you're too young. Some women wait and then throw the baby in the trash. Anti-abortionists have to trigger a miscarry since they can't use abortion, one of the many reasons legal and safe abortion should be available as an option.
If you want I can give you a bunch of examples of other women who have tried to trigger miscarriages. This isn't exactly rare, unfortunately. She may have been even doing it subconsciously. Welcome to reality.
If she was smart, she would have just
used Vitamin C.
Well, just read the
Wiki on the subject.
Wiki wrote:There are a number of anecdotally recorded and disseminated methods of performing a self-induced abortion. These may include:
-physical exertion designed to bring about a miscarriage
-abdominal massage
-receiving punches, kicks, or other blows to the abdominal area
-attempted removal of the fetus with a coat-hanger or similar device inserted into the uterus through the cervix (the historical use of this method has led to the use of coathangers as a symbol of the abortion rights movement, which associates self-induced abortion with the illegality of abortion)
-attempted piercing of the fetus with a knitting needle or similar device inserted into the uterus through the cervix
-suction through the insertion of a rubber tube into the uterus via the cervix
-ingesting abortifacients, high quantities of vitamin C, Pennyroyal or other substances believed to induce miscarriage
-douching with substances believed to induce miscarriage (beginning in the 1960s, many women used Coca Cola for this purpose, although its utility is at least dubious)
Emphasis added.
physical exertion designed to bring about a miscarriage
"I like running the hills, it kills me, that's why I like it, I mean it thrashes your guts..." Palin talking about hiking, which she did while 5 months into her secret pregnancy.
It's not a stretch to think she may have been trying to induce a miscarriage, regardless of how much that notion may offend you.
