That's pretty big of you. I'm sure that the homosexual community is all gay now...

What about the unstable lesbians? I'm talking about those non christian militants that say bad things about REAL men.

I'm like not at all a fan of gravity but I guess I have to accept it since it's kind of there

And you missed one. Charles Darwin was a minister. 8)

In fact he delayed publishing his findings for 10 years because he was afraid it would cause people to stop believing in God, ultimately only publishing because another scientist had independently come to the same conclusions.

Though Christiaan Huygens was actually an atheist, "Science is my religion," and Einstein frequently made popular references to god as essentially a propaganda tool to keep the masses placated in regards to scientific research. He vacillated between atheism and deism, becoming more deistic as he got older. Ultimately it was his increasing belief in god that caused him to pursue the impossible goal of disproving quantum mechanics for the last couple of decades of his life, as he couldn't believe that god would "play dice" with the Universe, a reference to the randomness of the subatomic. Time wasted.
Actualy the cosmological constant has come back up lately regarding dark matter (or at least the general idea) I havent kept as up on it as i would like to lately but no persuit in science is ever wasted worst case senerio you find out you need to try something else. Besides while Quantum Mechanics is beautiful as a mathamatical and scientific model it is so ugly as a world view it isnt funny. So as the guy that kicked it all off i dont blame him for wanting to put the genie back in the bottle. Any way with everything going on Im supprised no ones brough up the Higgs Boson yet hehe.

They *know* that it's their own who seek out the abortions. Since it's also their own who tend to get pregnant as teens, making abortion unavailable boosts their numbers.

If abortion was the actual issue, they'd be promoting birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancies. It isn't abortion the church leaders are against, it's the prevention of babies, whether through abortion or the use of a condom.

That's just cynical, and doesn't really match the problem. The problem is that abortion may be terminating a life, which poses a moral dilemma to some, weighing the hardships and wishes of the mother against the rights of the maybe-life.

Abortion to me is a matter of a woman being selfish. If shes been raped or there is incest involved I can understand. If a woman gets knocked up because shes either been a slut or just doesnt want a baby right now there are other alternatives to keeping her baby. There are millions of couples in the world who would love to adopt a child since some cant have children of their own. Why do these women think its ok to terminate a life just because they werent smart enough to use protection? Its selfishness.

You want the right to control your own bodies well then use your brain before you sleep around or dont use protection and get pregnant when you didnt want too. Just because you dont want the responsibility doesnt mean there aren't others who wont want to love and care for the child your throwing away.

In 50 years from now there will be close to a world wide "on child" policy. If abortion is left open to everyone then maybe we can make it to 55 years and we all get to have more than one grandchild.

Sure abortion is something that is bad but it is a necessary evil (not being related to my remark just above).

So uh... what happened to the discussion? We've long devolved into the "blah!" "anti-blah!" "You're dumb!" "No you're dumb!" variety of argument, primarily because there's little evidence to be provided when we're discussing values, said evidence tends to get spit on if it's presented regardless of credibility or lack thereof, and no one seems particularly interested in speaking of the actual values; posts are getting increasingly offensive (bad if you plan on changing minds, btw, also bad for discussion, but not as bad as the impact on trying to convince onlookers.) I'm thinking a refocusing or a stepping back is in order.

*eyes the adoption arguement*

Once again, I will say, I hope the republicans are willing to foot the bill by paying federal taxes to support the national adoption program...last I checked, they were against this type of wellfare, but maybe I am wrong.

That's quite the oversimplification, my friend.

Strangely the only thing we seem to have covered is abortion, so lets end that one. Please go back to OP (original post) !

There's a lot more to discuss in this thread, just keep on topic and don't be assholes pls!
"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully." -- Richard Dawkins

Right, women are sluts for getting pregnant and those men who get these women pregnant, then opt to 'walk away,' are studs.

Amazing the hypocrisy of a guy who's never had intimacy with anything other than his hand.

At least he's practicing safe sex, eh? :P
