In short - you have no idea what you are talking about and you are wrong. Period. And thats fine, people are often wrong about a lot of things, but where it bugs me is when you and folks like you try to limit my secular rights based upon your (incorrect and offensive) beliefs. And there we are.
Just because you have done these things to yourself doesnt mean you are anymore right than I am. You say it bugs you when its my incorrect and offensive beliefs but I could be saying that same to you but im not. Your right we are at a brick wall and Im sorry. I think your near sighted and wont look past your beliefs because you are living that life and its easier to agree with what you see that makes you feel better about yourself than agree it was your poor choices that made you who you are today.

Sorry Mik. You shouldnt have cussed at me. I was more than happy to have a civil discussion.

If you don't like being cussed at, you shouldn't have implied that I am a liar.

Dan - my "belief" about this and your "belief" about this are NOT on equal footing - I actually AM transgender, and I know what is in my head, and what was in my head when I was 3. You, on the other hand, are just guessing. And whats worse is that you are not even really guessing - you are just repeating the answers that fundamentalist priests and right-wing pundits have given you.

Where our beliefs get back on equal footing is when we get to our beliefs about how I should act on the feelings that I have; I think I should live a true life, the life I am living now, and be on the outside who I am on the inside. You think (presumably) that I should not do that. Here, our beliefs about 'right' and 'wrong' are on equal footing, and its a subjective decision. Maybe I should suppress my feelings (your presumed position), maybe I should live a true-life (my position). THAT we can argue about fairly - what we cannot argue about fairly is what is in my head - I know a lot more about what is in my head than you do. And I know a lot more about what it means to be transgender and how it feels than you do - so there, your "beliefs" about this being a choice/lifestyle don't amount to a pile of .. well .. you are wrong.

So, if you want to get back to discussing whether the choice I had was right or wrong, fine, but you've raised a brick-wall of disbelief when it comes to the part of this that is in my head, not yours. And .. well .. no point in talking to a brick wall.

Well, lets just leave it at that, then.

Again, I respect what you did on Bills show and you gave as good as you got. Im not implying I know whats in your head, Mik. Im not there and cant read your thoughts, but Im a huge believer that we are who we are because of the everyday choices we make. I can understand you saying you cannot control feelings you had or have. Then, again, people who cannot control their feelings usually are classified as having mental disorders...one could look at cases of serial killers or rapists. They act(ed) out because they couldnt supress/have the willpower to deal with their problems so they took things to the extreme. In this case I believe a whole lot of factors come into play, though.

Anyway, I appreciate the debate and I still think the world of you regardless of our difference in opinions. You fight for what you believe in. I truly respect that.

Good point. If it is a choice, then every "straight" person is just as gay as Mik, and could, with sufficient persuasion and motivation, lust after a member of their own sex.

So it's just a matter of finding Danubus a sufficiently hunky, smooth-talking man and he can live happily ever after.

BTW: Everybody knows that Dan likes to dress up as a woman...or wait..is it that he likes to dress up as a guy, I get confused when it comes to Dan :lol:
