Call of Duty 4

Post by Mikayla »

I think this game ROCKS! So, last night I picked it up and went home and started playing. Now, I am not the biggest fan of first-person shooters in the world, but I have played Call of Duty and Call of Duty United Offensive and Call of Duty 2, and my son plays them as well, so when I saw Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, I picked it up. I've always kind of wanted a Call of Duty about more modern war because I was in the Army in 90s, not the 40s. And here is a Call of Duty about modern combat - and WOW! This is a great game. Now, its true I can only play it at the bare minimum levels given that my machine barely meets the minimum standards, so I suppose I am missing out on all kinds of neet textures and particle effects and shadows and such, but whatever, so far, the game rocks!

Anyway, I just had to say that. Its rare I am so impressed with a video game, so I thought I would share. It makes me feel like part of the club or something. :)

Ciao!

Le sigh.

Its true. I don't look like a nerd, but I am one. So sad.

pf, being called a nerd is a compliment. Now, if you get called a geek (ie a lesser or a wannabe nerd), thats when it turns into insult.

If you have the machine to run it, the game looks phenomenal when you crank up the detail. The single player is short but extremely good. The set pieces are all very enjoyable, and the missions tie in better than the previous 2 games (CoD 3 i discount, it was rubbish not made by Infinity Ward).

The AC-130 bomber mission remains one of my favorites. Nothing like dropping bombs on soldiers :D

I've enjoyed the previous COD games as well. This latest, I'll have to check out as well sometime, though only on the PC. I've never been able to play FPSs on a console, save for the old Playstation's Doom......wow, was it really that long ago?

I have encountered people on the internet who were not born yet when Doom came out.

We're old.

I should hope that being alive and playing games during the release of Doom is not a qualifier for old... I was almost out of the house when Doom came out...

And I sure ain't old.

yuss. My friend owns one and I help him run it. We just moved into a new location which is a lot larger than the other one. We have 10 computers, a huge bigscreen tv, lots of couches, a coffee area with a lot of nice tables, and one room thats an entire black light room for gamers to play in and one roleplaying room all decked out for folks to have fun rping in or play CCGs. The blacklight room also has Master Chief on the wall done by a local artist in all black light paint. Its awesome :D

We charge 5 bucks and hour to use the computers and probably will change our special rate to 8 hrs for 20 bucks. It was 10 for 20. We are adding a ton of new items into the store plus more food and going to carry direct from Wizards 4e stuff and MTG and from Upper Deck the World of Warcraft CCG.

When we reopen next week (hoping) we are going to have some tourneys going, some special deals, and probably like all nighters either for computer gaming or roleplaying.

We do rather well or we wouldnt have just bought this brand new huge ass building.

Internet cafe's still do suprisingly well, depending on their location of course. I've found that ones that are close to college and high school campus' seem to be constantly full of young men with zombie-esque looks on their faces doing exactly what I do at home. I have a friend who has actually expanded to three locations around the Salt Lake City area (targetting univ. campuses). He's twenty five and drives a 2007 Porsche and plays WoW all day, must be doing something right.

Can't really knock LAN-parties. Who doesn't prefer the PnP player interaction? There's nothing like tossing a Cheeto at the DM when he tosses something at you. It's sort of like that when someone headshots you from across the map... just throw the Cheeto when the cafe worker is turned around. :D

Yeah, I liked them, I just didn't know they still existed. We used to have a bunch in town but they all shut down years ago, once broadband showed up. The closest thing around these days are the coffee shops with free wireless.
