With the imminent release of the orange box, I thought I'd bring up something rather awesome.
The Smod for Half Life 2
It's a single player modification that adds some very neat features to the single player experience, such as: bullet time (you are actually able to see bullets flying through the air and dodge them if you're quick enough), a Duke Nukem style kick attack for when you feel like stomping some combine in the face, the ability to throw the crowbar at combine, tons of new weapons and powers, new enemies, more gore and severed limbs flying about, randomized encounters, and not to mention it is absolutely hard as nuts even when you are fully utilizing the bullet time feature. Think of it as if F.E.A.R and Half Life 2 had a child and they named it Smod.
The bullet time alone makes it an absolute riot to play.
Just unrar it into "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods" and restart/start steam, it should be in your games directory.
