Now: Next time someone, a person that is, is raped, abused, molested, tortured and/or killed, I wanna see threads just like this. I wanna see protests all over the place. It's just very unsettling to me how people die by the tens of thousands everyday, but where's the outcry for them? Where are all those livid folks at? Where's the protesters for New Orleans and other such places and victims?

A dog's an animal. And, I certainly value human life over a dog's. But we see a husband murder his wife and child and we say, "Oh, that's a shame." then flip the TV to our favorite program. These people kill animals and it's, "Oh my gawd! You barbarian! Die then burn in hell!

Controversy. K. Bye.
The media jump from story to story about rapes, murder and whatever else sells newspapers or ad time because people are concerned enough to tune in. The smallest stories spark the biggest outcries because there's a face to be seen. Large stories that involved hundreds, thousands or even millions of people have no face so people don't care as much and it's been like that forever. I've seen many threads in Off-Topic about the suffering or abuse of people en masse so the outcry over the large scale stories does get discussed in here.

The abuse of animals on the other hand gets almost no media time whatsoever and it's a shame that it takes a big celeb to draw some attention from the media who are more concerned about small, tragic stories involving people. Sadly, most animal abusers see animals as THEIR property, property that they can do whatever they want to if they feel like it. Vick is typical and it's disgusting to see people treat animals so badly when all they want to do is be your friend.

Me, I have no problem whatsoever with Animal abusers getting media attention.

blind justice IMO. But yeah hes a tard
The only reason the animals were put down was because they were examined by animal behavior experts and found to be so psychologically damaged that they they just couldn't be trusted in a home where they might come in contact with small children or other animals.

Sadly, the dogs that could have been saved were killed by Vick and his friends because they didn't have a killer instinct.

I dont disagree. I just see it as a bit ironic. Which is worse. Both involve the arbitrary death of animals.

Im sure the military has use for dangerous guard dogs. Surely theres A use for them somewhere. Im sure some junkyard or used carlot in downtown LA needs a dangerous animal at night. I mean if they care as much as they put on they could have done something especially in such a public case.

There was a major atempt to save the animals by rescue groups all over North America but the dogs were so badly abused that they couldn't be trusted. Death by a long drawn out fight against another dog or by a needle in a quiet room? Which is worse?? I think the needle is the best alternative to being mauled to death.

Military dogs are highly trained to obey commands, even moreso than police dogs. No comparison to fight dogs really. The rescue group I work with has placed Police dogs before and what's needed is a carefully selected home with an owner that's clearly the pack leader and will keep the dog active. Military dogs are truly loved by their handlers.

Yup, those types of places get their animals from suspect dog "trainers" and would likely make for bad housepets. It's been done but it's almost a lock that one demand a rescue group would make upon someone looking to adopt is that there be no small children in or near the home.
