I also hear rumors it's possible to not read forums if you don't like them. I haven't tested the theory, but it seems plausible.

Sound advice. Whitey, have a read of that and then put it into action.

Of course, the simple fact that Off Topic exists, even if you do not read it, is likely to gnaw at you incessantly until you go mad about how we could be achieving so much more if it did not exists, but we can't fix everything for you ;)

How dare you question my experiences! You're nothing but a hypocritical, know-nothing, neo-conservative, pot-head hippie wannabe dirtbag that smells of elderberries! Your non-religious approach disgusts me and I hope it never affects any good god-fearing government on this 4000 year old earth. How dare you say what you wish, without properly editing yourself so as to be unoffensive to any and every concievable member of the human race, the sea otter race, or old trees in general!?!

You obveously know nothing, because I know everything. If I didn't ... well that's not even possible... I have the entire database of CNN, all DnD source books ever made or imagined, and the bible. If you still don't believe me you must be a dumbarsed American who can't relate to the intellectual maturity of we [Please sellect one: A) Europeans, B) Asians, C) Africans, D) South Americanicans, C) Canadians, D) Californians.]

Thank you for hearing my words because honestly I only read 1/10th of yours. (Just enough for me to conjure a reply)

I don't have any more to say forever on this thread, and I'm also gonna leave ALFA because I know you can't go on without me. Ciao.
That was art. :D

A one line post?

Who are you, and what have you done with the *real* White Warlock?

:D

****

You post did, however, more than once state "I know things about other players that I would rather not know" and GFs suggestion would, undeniably, have prevented you from finding these things out.

And yet, despite this, you are still reading the Off Topic Forums, and more to the point, still posting on them, and sometimes posting facts about yourself.

If reading about other people personals lives is such an anatheama to you, why would you want to publicly post details of your own personal life?

Well then since no one seems to be able to comprehend exactly what the point of your post was, lay it out straight for all us lesser beings.

Course, nobody that responds to your posts ever seems to comprehend them the way you seem to intend, so maybe it is pointless asking.

Sure, but just to note, there's more than just one bit of, dare i say... insight in that earlier post.

Anyhow, for the one i deem more important:
I wrote:The whole 'social gathering' mindset undermines the efficiency of this project. As demonstrated by the antics in this last series of threads, the Off-Topic area 'green lights' the notion members can say whatever they want, whenever they feel, to whomever else. This results in a free-for-all that not only undermines the project, but the 'fun' of gaming. What remains is a robust 'internet community' with a crippled project team and a gutted game.
Basically, what i mean is that the free-for-all Off-Topic and chat room hurt the project, and the community, as a whole. It doesn't matter whether I, as an individual, don't read the posts. The damage committed is to the community, the development project, and the ongoing game.

* Due to: non-project-related disagreements, working relationships in ALFA can (and have) become fractured.

* Due to: bad blood related to incidents in off-topic or chat, People can (and have) quit this community.

* Due to: being discouraged by the heated arguments posed in the forums, people new to this community can (and have) quit.

* Due to: the ill-treatment received in chat, new and prospective members can (and have) quit.

* Due to: the caustic environment, so many ALFAns who play/DM ingame, or who focus on building, go out of their way to 'avoid' visiting ALFA's forums.

I have heard the argument that these sorts of things exist in most communities, but i strongly disagree. This sort of stuff happens in debate (as opposed to gaming or project) forums, in unmoderated chatrooms and unmoderated forums, and in other areas where 'project' and 'cooperation' are not the guiding theme.

The thing with ALFA is: 'project' and 'cooperation' are the guiding theme. Unfortunately, the community is singing a different tune.

So Swift, when you perceive my comments as that of voicing my preferences, you misconstrue my intentions as being something other than community-oriented. It's not about me, it's about what i see causes damage to this community. In the vast majority of cases, where i'm spewing things out, i'm considering what i deem are in the best interest of the community... in the long run (as opposed to the short-term effect of my cage-rattling).

As it is, there are too many voices clamoring for the 'me' vote, rather than the 'us' vote. I just want more people to put the community 'before' their own interests, because with a project this large, you absolutely must put self to the side. Oh sure, it can be in there, just not as the forefront agenda, and definitely not all the time.

lol, didn't actually catch your question there.

First, i should state that my comments were representative allegories, and not my actual feelings. Second, I post details of my public life when it directly relates to my availability (surgeries, etc). Or, in the case of the pets, when the news serves as a warning. In the case of my recently presented political history, it is in the spirit of the discussion, mostly tongue in cheek, and not posed as a debate piece. If you can relax about what i post, and not think ill of every word i present in off-topic, i think you'll see that when things start getting personal, i attempt to derail the discussions.

A noble goal it is, but when much of the community disagrees with you on this matter, bringing it up at every opportunity isn't going to do a god damn thing ;)
