While I agree that those wielding higher CHA and social skills are better for many situations, when the arrows and spells start flying, we need a combat leader.

That is why varied sorts make for success, methinks.

The last loot division was horribly painful, especially with so many pcs. My OOC suggestion is that there is a party leader (Marisha, Jackman?) who will distribute any items based on usefulness to the character (eg shields to the front line, healing potions to those who cant heal themselves, protection to the unarmored, gauntlets to brawlers, arrows to the archers, scrolls to the casters), and no pc should lose their share of gold based on that. Leader decision is final. The (ic) thought should be that we are a team, and that useful items within the group helps everyone.

(This does assume that items are going to pcs who are party regulars, not passing through mercenaries)
I second this.

Yea, Toliv didn't poo-poo anything. But ...i'll play...........

I vote no Quartermaster. Also vote no "General".

I'm truly not hard to get along with. And Toliv is even less difficult to get along with. .............no...........really.

I really don't even see the need. People are saying it takes too long? Totally disagree. Additionally, if it was RP'd correctly why would we assign someone who's almost never there, and sorry, a bit of a poo-poo-er himself, as the person who literally decides where everything goes after a group comes up from an adventure? Nah. And since it was brought up, that apparently i'm the problem (no offence Myk, but i expected it to happen and that's what you implied - which is too bad, but as i said, hey i expected it), Toliv would not accept a situation now, where "The Quartermaster" is someone who thinks so poorly about him in the game. Toliv spent a half hour apologizing to Darrow, to no positive end whatsoever. Try to step into my shoes, YOU witnessed it all.

I can't believe this shit even transpired the way it did. Toilv disagrees with Darrow - he explodes on Toliv - Toliv tries to smooth it over apologizing (when both he IC and I OOC think he shouldn't have, but IC he wants everyone to chill) - and /I'm/ to blame. Hilarious. No bias behind the scenes AT ALL there. I was LOL'ing through the whole thing, but sorry (truly sorry) that Toliv isn't going to lie down and bite his lip when something is @suggested/TOLD@ to us about how it's going to be IC.

Since you named me, then hey, i'll play the poo-poo as labelled.
Toliv ain't accepting a Quartermaster.
And both he IC and I OOC am completely fine with whatever happens IC to him because of this decision. He's not nearly in any position to assume any authority over the decisions made of our shaky macro-group - i am sure 90% wouldn't even dream of Toliv taking charge, even though IC he's quite capable and proven. So if it pisses too many off, tell him he can't come along see if that bothers him IC or me OOC. :)

He believes the group is capable enough to dole out gear well without ONE person (especially a near stranger), to do it. And he loves the whole group. And he'd be happy to help anytime. He DOES help a LOT every time. And he's quite generous (never took any loot yet without giving something of his own back to the group as a replacement (have not seen anything similar from anyone else)), etc, i could go on.

In truth i am sorry for the negativity. I just want to play! Hope everyone has fun. Cheers.

Galadorn, all I said was that you poo-poo'd the idea of pooling our money to save for raises, which you did. That is all I said. I made no judgement about it, you or Toliv. Chill dude. I made an IC suggestion, and you said no IC. Cool beans, but not even my point. My point was that the idea of having someone designated to split treasure was already suggested IC and no one really responded, until I offered the second suggestion that we pool money. So .. relax man. No one is attacking you.

P.S. About leadership: Groups going into combat need leaders, just as the individuals in the group need roles. Otherwise, you're not a combat group, you are a mob. Leadership for purposes of meeting with NPCs and such should go to the folks with high CHA and social skills. Leadership for the actual combat endeavors should go to the people who can actually lead a group of PCs in combat. I am not advocating for myself as leader, though I have done a fair bit of it over the last two Friday night raids because their has been an absence of leadership. I do this not because I want to be the general - I don't, I want to be the scout (also I am on the low side of levels for this group and am falling behind daily) - but because without some semblance of leadership, our PCs are more likely to die, and I really don't like dying. This is why I have repeatedly suggested Tragnar be 'general' or battle-leader or battle-captain or whatever you want to call it. Someone needs to make decisions when we are down there for the group. Combat is no place for a democracy. We can be a democracy in the haven - think of it like a pirate crew - out of combat, pirate crews are a democracy and they elect their captain. In battle, the Captain leads.

The most successful combat groups I have seen in ALFA had a leader, and clearly designated roles, including designating someone to gather the loot. I can use this observation in-character because these groups included the Lonely Wood elves and other warbands that my PC saw operate as a child. These groups operate at a really high level of efficiency with minimal risk.

Again, I do not want to be the battle-leader and I don't think its appropriate for a comparatively low-level scout to be the leader. We need Tragnar or someone like that to step up.

Sorry Myk. Been a terrible day IRL. I did smile and was not offended by your comment, and you absolutely did no wrong and you are right, Toliv did not agree (and tried to offer what in his mind an alternative to the suggestion IF IT was decided that way)... But the way humans are, the comment does set up a label that in the back ground i'm hard to get along with, it's what I felt, and I am happy to hear i'm wrong in that notion. I started wishing about 13 years and 11 months ago ((I started on ALFA 14 years ago)), that there were NO forums, and NO chat .....at all. That we all JUST met in game, and whatever happens IC happens. Just imagine how immersive that would be. It felt like that once upon a time, but once the forums start rolling,....bah. I'm starting to make that decision now, to stay off the forums. Thanks and see you IC.

This thread has side-tracked several times from the initial post.

If you helped in rescuing Ponlin, you should have a Key given to your PC for Ponlin's Shop.

If you only received 555gp and no items, Darrow has more gp to give your PC.

If you received equipment, it seems like you did not receive a cut of the gp.

If you were rescued, it was stated that you don't get a share because... you were rescued. Life is valuable.

We had the following as our haul:
Bracers of AC (+1): Toliv
Enchanted Rapier (+1): Shein'n
Cure Serious Wound Potions (3): Kree
Hold Person/Monster/Animal Scrolls: Clarence (?)
Slaver's Whip (+2 To Hit, Daze: 20-25% each hit, Feat: Disarm): Unknown (Darrow picked up)
Silver Longsword: Unknown (Darrow picked up)
Gems (Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby): Sold by Twilight (roughly 1,980gp. Darrow gave share to those still around)
5,000gp: Given to everyone who did not receive an item from the initial haul (555gp/person)

There's your checklist of what you qualify for as well as the loot breakdown. Have a good day.

Thanks Magile, great breakdown. Time for a lock! :D
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Locked
