Talk across Waterdeep is ablaze with trouble at the docks. Something has certainly rubbed the ship's captains the wrong way and not an amorous Kraken! A growing number of captains are refusing to allow customs inspectors and watch officials to board their ships and are starting to clog up the berths.

The dockers are on strike (who'd even notice right?) and what cargo is moving is does so at a snails pace. Tempers are flaring and scuffles are breaking out across the ward. Reportedly one particularly tough sailor with a shock of red hair challenged all-comers, he'd apparently knocked out 34 challengers (or random passers by, stories differ) before the watch intervened.

The watch has been doubled across the dock ward in response while Merchants and traders are starting to get nervous.

More Trouble Down the Docks

More fights down the docks. It seems the watch can barely keep a lid on things. Just last night a young boy was walking his dog when set upon by ruffians. The horror, I mean a young boy! Its bad enough they fight among themselves but a boy! Wont somebody, please think of the children! They killed the dog (a poor defenseless dog!) and stabbed the boy before the watch managed to intervene.

It's not all bad though, by the next morning a swath of striking dockers were seen bringing out blankets and tucking into a great feast of breads, cheese, meats and even a giant cake. Right in front of the ships they were supposed to be unloading. They certainly don't seem to be hurting for cash, do they have a secret benefactor?

Toliv spends his every waking hour patrolling the Docks, taking testimonies, hunting clues, and berating, arresting, laying the smackdown, and/or arresting (not short of killing) ruffians he catches attacking innocents in the streets.

((edited after learning more details about what is actually going on))

Another Eventful Night in the 'deep
PC's involved:- Clarence, Dahvet

Stephen the coach driver is overjoyed. The regulars at the Safe haven have never seen the man so happy, he even bought a round for everyone at the bar. Apparently the scourge of Waterdeep is vanquished. Peytor, the little bugger who torments horses and has reportedly smashed more than half the windows of half the homes in the trades ward has been grounded. His no good lazy parents have finally stepped up and done something with the little brat. Stephen believes the notorious 'Fangs of Waterdeep' will soon disband, though no one else has apparently heard of this guild? Adventuring company? Whatever it is, Stephen sure is happy about it.

Elsewhere the Waterdeep serial killer appears to have struck again, three more dead in the Trade Ward last night and a giant shadowy figure in black reported calmly walking away. Mrs Cobber, informing anyone who'd listen, while leaning our of a broken window on the second story near the crime scene swears blind the killer drank blood from the bodies. The patrons of the Safe Haven are at least glad his hunting grounds have moved on from outside their little slice of heaven (Also known as: a warm place that sells them beer.)

After several weeks of strikes the situation on the docks appears to have calmed down. Reports suggest one of the Lords of Waterdeep negotiated a deal with the ships captains and things de-escalated from there. A couple of ring leaders were rounded up and held responsible for the violence resulting. 2 were fined and 1 sent to the Undermountain.

The price of most goods in the city have seen increases, bread is now double what it cost a few months ago but that too is starting to recede to normal levels.

Wedding Notices, Waterdeep Chronicle

Clara Fensbrook and Roger Earsprout married yesterday, thankfully just missing out on the worst snow storm this year. Attended by family and friends, the bride was almost upstaged by her own cake. Made by an anonymous baker, surely a master of his craft, the splendid sweet stood proud in its understated beauty. One attractive, apparently single, red haired female guest was a particular fan stating she'd not rest until she discovered its creator and convinced him to make one for her next soiree.
