A shrine in a faraway place

Post by dergon darkhelm »

The big man smiled as they came up the rise, cresting the windswept hillock. It was just as he had seen in his vision in the Rider's Chair...

What once had been a great stone throne in the wilderness was now a tumble of toppled rock, cracked and worn from untold ages of weather. Between the stones now grew a dense tangle of nettleweed and drafflower, soft purple and yellow flowers giving the ruin a solemn beauty.

"This is the place allright!" Tralyn spoke to Elina and Toby while looking out westward to the distant horizon. The wind was whipping and whistling, making Wayfarer's long thick hair billow out toward the sky.

"Who knows," he speculated "Mayhaps it's been a hundred years since another fella made a prayer to the Rider o' the Winds on this spot. For sure, He done called me here to put it right again. Shaundakul wants this shrine made whole."

Tralyn then took some of the stones and assembled them into a sizable cairn, facing westward. He then took a knee and spent a long while in silent prayer as the wind grew to high cresendo.

Elina, the halfling priestess of the Moonmaiden, quietly made a prayer of her own. Toby stood silent, seeming out of sorts and nervous.

Before the sun even reached its high the three turned and made their back for the Dragonspear trail, then onward to the Boersekyr bridge.

The wind quickly subsided from its peak, but stayed brisk throughout the day as tralyn made pace with a spring in his step, his spirit as high as it had been in seasons.

Tralyn is now asking around Boersekyr bridge and Soubar, looking for stone masons and some skilled strong men who might assist him for fair pay as he looks to restore the Shrine of Shaundakul.

((OOC - would love to get some PC together to do this in a larger group :) ))

As for asking for a player party to help rebuild, or a steady effort from hired hands?
First Character: Zyrus Meynolt, the serene Water Genasi berserker. "I am the embodiment of the oceans; serene until you summon the storm." Zyrus: http://tinyurl.com/9emdbnd

The leather-skinned dwarf looks back at the big man with a scowl on being accosted. The Boroaskyr bridge and the poisonous fumes of the water sliding beneath and the folk it seems to attract to its banks not the sort any would want to have their backs to for long...

Recognizing the big man he nods at his words, impressed by his find he nods at the next request. "Aye, I kin dae dat sort o' work I caint dae fancy but out in da wilds nothin fancy be needful and somethin like dat the likes o imself wouldnae care for nohow... so aye I'll 'elp ye... ye'll know where tae find me when ye needs me"

With that said he nods gruffly shaking the man's meaty hand with his own gnarled paw and goes on his way across the bridge and into the wilds.

Tralyn has commissioned a woodworker in Hillesdge to build the throne for the wilderness.

A dwarven stone mason is also cutting marble for the base.

Within a fornight the cut and polished stone should be ready, the throne assembled with detail work and treated with resin to survive the elements.

The material will be loaded onto mules for tranport.

Well everyone. We have a time!

Saturday, August 17th HEEGZ has graciously agreed to DM the session for this event.

It will be Saturday morning for the US based players, targeting an 8am Eastern Daylight Time start.

We will be heading out with a load from the camp at Boersekyr Bridge.

Hope people can make it!

I think I'll be there. If not whatever necessary rolls you need for the carving let me know and I'll do them in advance to the date if necessary under a DM's viewing.
