None of the mercenaries, sellswords, or caravan guards had ever met.....or even seen ..the wizard, but they toasted him nonetheless.

"To the fire throwing basterd! Whoever he is!", one guard spoke, raising a bandaged hand holding a mug of ale. Some others nodded, some offerred "Aye!" and raised their tankards in toast.

They had all been surrounded, expecting death at the hands of the bugbear tribe who had encircled their position. But thanks to the well-timed arcane fire, instead they lived. They were able to scatter the buggers, gather up their wounded, and make their way slowly back to Soubar alive.... And that was something worth toasting, even if it was for a wizard.

*a described as "attractive, but somewhat haughty" young woman in overly polished armor has been seen wandering Soubar, the Serpent's Cowl, and recently Hillsedge. She has been seen begging for scrolls of healing at the one local temple that is open. At the same time she has been asking the dirty and uneducated as well as the one or two educated folk she can find about a name,
"Kanaglym."*

A battle in the dusty streets of Soubar!
A pair of wizards who were said to dual in the streets with magical hellfire.

The destruction was significant as a small building was burnt to the ground.

A pair of arcanists from the Soubar guild were able to conjure enough magical water to staunch the blaze, but the home was in the end a total loss.

More and more caravans coming through the lucrative Trade Way routes are being attacked. Most are raided and looted, though some remain able to withstand the pressure.

There seems to be no specific group target anyone can judge. Everyone from the Merchants League all the way to the newly arrived "Croster's Caravans" people are all reporting losses.

Many are advising traveling in armed groups, if one needs to travel at all anymore.

Just another day in Soubar:

A large, bearded man, bloodied and muddy, entered The Winding Way with two halfling women. One of the halfling females was bound and hardly conscious, with face swollen a sickening purple from mulpitple blunt force impacts. The other following along behind with crossbow trained on the bound kin.

The three were said to quietly take an upstairs room to themselves and remain there with the door barred.

Hanz Hafferty -a mainstay at Boareskyr Bridge these days- is warning people to be on the lookout for gibberling attacks at night south of Soubar. He and dozen of his men came back to the bridge area battered and bloodied hard at Dawn earlier in the day, and has said that a horde of the creatures is the cause.

He has no word on how many there might be... only "Too many".

The body of a man was carried into the Boersekyr camp by a halfling and a big human near sunset last night.

He was said to be found recently killed somewhere out on the moor. The body has for now been been set near the bridge in hopes that perhaps some kin, friend, or fellow man will claim him. He was found wearing jet black leathers and had a strange necklace, perhaps a holy symbol. Even in death it is felt perhaps he had a dark look about him.

Rumors and tales rapidly spread across the Heartlands. An undead horde blockaded the road between Soubar and Hill's Edge for a full day. Many caravans were attacked and ruined, and any travelers were killed. The horde at one point suddenly went south and east, then east towards Hill's Edge.... then retreated into the south, killing anyone who tried to track them. The horde has since left the region.... where did it go?

One thing is for sure... what people are starting to call "the battle of the horde" has left a major mark. Many are in a panick at the mere mention of traveling, and many merchants are starting to hire mercenaries en masse for their caravans.

Rumors that the Zhentarim are behind this horde, and the recent attacks, spread from Hill's Edge.

Rumor is Zhentarim agents have popped along the roads, the Trade Way in particular. They "helpfully" suggest they can assist caravan masters with making "appropriate contributions to show good faith to the Divine". So that the "Divine" would look gracefully upon the safe passage of their caravans. In return of these contributions, ranging from a hundred to few hundred gold pieces, they've been passing silver coins with a Zhentarim symbol on one side and Bane symbol on the other. Rumor obviously is that those who refuse to pay get attacked almost certainly, but also some caravans who had paid are said to have gone missing.

An orc tribe suddenly blockaded the western exit of the Boareskr bridge for a brief hour earlier today. Rumor has it orc fought orc shortly after, the reasons why most only speculate at. As suddenly as they came, they left, however. The orcs retreated into the High Moor shortly after starting the blockade, with trackers saying "Better to just leave em be, trail of bodies going north."

Undead have been spotted again, this time in smaller numbers along the trade way. Few survive the raids now, but those that do say they were overwhelmed easily. Once again, caravans are being ruined and plundered coming along the trade way, and few are uncertain anymore that the Zhentarim are involved.

The Zhentarim 'coins' are still being handed out... though some have simply taken to hiring more mercenaries with the gold they would have otherwise spent. TIme will tell if this is a working strategy.

Rumors have started to circulate of an ongoing fight (some calling it a war) in the High Moor.

Orcs, goblins, kobolds, undead. No one is able to tell for sure who is trying slaughter who. With adventurer parties putting down all, and more than a few meeting their end trying their luck at scavenging, solid information is scarce at best.

"Aye, if ye looking to go up there. don't. Be as safe as the roads these days."

The Boareskyr Bridge was attacked late night recently by a massive horde of undead, almost certainly the very same that blockaded between Hill's Edge and Soubar a month past. A significant battle took place which saw the Bridge overrun for a few hours while Tyrran forces rallied south and took battle to them. Rumors of Banite control are abound as the battle took place across the trade way and High Moor, seeing the horde broken, and the Tyrrans retreating from losses sustained.

Cleanup is underway, and thick, obvious smoke can be seen from the north of the Bridge, with the small army of Tyrrans camped just northwest of the Bridge for now, tending their fallen.

There is no word on the location of any of the remaining undead, or their Masters.

Tyrrans under Justiciar Raevich are calling for aid in finding the stragglers, with anyone interested to report to Zarya of Tyr at the camp.
