Re: The same thing we do every (ten)day... plot to SAVE THE ISLES (planning thread)
It would save me some time to know where the group will meet so I don't spend an hour looking like last time. I'm going to assume callidyr house as the usual place if nobody updates me. (Which does happen a lot these days)
Re: The same thing we do every (ten)day... plot to SAVE THE ISLES (planning thread)
I understand the group discovered some ruins after I had to log the other night. I suppose our plan should be to explore those. If those ruins are close to Whiterock, then I think starting at the house in Callidyrr should be fine. If not, then perhaps someone who knows the location can suggest a closer starting point.
If it happens that the ruins discovered actually are the ruins containing the stone and Arri is not ready for us to delve into them from a building standpoint, then we will have to come up with an alternate activity. Possibilities include:
1. Talking to the Seneschal about whether or not anything has been heard from Blackstaff regarding storage/destruction of the stones.
2. Using the Legend Book on one of the stones to see if a way to destroy them is revealed.
3. Clearing the temple near Horsa where the last stone was found. Quite a few traps still remain, I believe.
I am fine doing any of the above. If someone has additional suggestions, I would be likely be open to most anything even peripherally related to recent campaign sessions.

sounds sensible mick.
Incidentally, are you leader of this escapade? seems you're the only one organised enough to think up ideas

Group should meet at the house
My internet is not reliable enough for serious dungeon delving this friday - tech won't be out till monday to hopefully fix it
Right now my internet drops randomly for various periods of time and I am horribly lagged
IF your going to pursue the Lorebook and the Stone . . . Where are you planning to do this considering the area of effect it can have out of the box?

Re: The same thing we do every (ten)day... plot to SAVE THE ISLES (planning thread)
Arizma is open to suggestions, but she would suggest the far southern tip of Alaron as a place to try such a thing. She would not want to stir up any troubles near the city and certainly not within the area already affected by the remaining stone in the Farheights. A trip south below Llewellyn will be what she suggests to try to investigate a stone.

Re: The same thing we do every (ten)day... plot to SAVE THE ISLES (planning thread)
I have to admit this has me stumped. We're mostly low levellers and we are going to fail will saves. Arizama and Toby might be okay but statistically one of them will fall to the effect. That would mean only one of them to heal up the rest and... Yeah the odds are really not good in that.
Can't we find a way to make helms of protection or something like that instead? We know quartz blocks the effects, lets go make some gem helmets

I don't think you can totally seal your head inside of quartz , breathing would be difficult

Quartz shield then?
.., then again I don't have the feat to hold a shield.

Hmm I don't think we can do anything about the stones except just leave it to Toby and Arizma.
Personally Im against going for the stone without some Heavy hitters.

Re: The same thing we do every (ten)day... plot to SAVE THE ISLES (planning thread)
Arizma has considered inquiring at the Council of Mages regarding the use of a Fabricate or similar spell to produce just such a helmet. Such should be technically possible. However, there is no guarantee that it will help at all and it will be very costly.

Even magic must give way to some physics; however loose. we are used to thinking of magic like light or radiation but it looks more like a gas here so a helm isn't going to help. Corruption seeps through.
Re: The same thing we do every (ten)day... plot to SAVE THE ISLES (planning thread)
How you think of it may not necessarily hold. Ultimately I will rely on what the DM tells me will or will not work.

There you go :p
Then again you might get a different answer who knows.
Ultimately we are trying to 'guess' the physics in play with what the DM has given and that's my best guess. Feel free to consider alternatives. (Viral, transdimensional, a wizard is doing it) I never said I had the answer I'm only working with what has been presented this far. I am limited by what I have experienced in my three dimensional existence.
When presented with a hostile environment you only have two options. Change yourself in such a way to be able to survive it, or change the environment. (Third option is to avoid it of course) we can't change the environment because of where the stones came from. We are forced to look at ourselves. We examine our environment to shield our bodies without knowing what it is. We are no better then the old days when perfumes were used to remove 'miasma' that caused sickness or hollow tubes to restrict breathing.
When dealing with unknown physics one goes to something familiar just to get a handle on it.

Re: The same thing we do every (ten)day... plot to SAVE THE ISLES (planning thread)
I have one idea. Have we ever looked at why that particular stone protects? Maybe we can use that knowledge to find better ways to protect ouselves
